Determined to put smiles on the faces of the Internally Displaced Persons
\n(IDPs) in the North Eastern part of the country during the on-going
\nRamadan, the Dangote Foundation has commenced the distribution of food
\nitems and other relief materials in Borno State.<\/p>\n
Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, who flagged off the exercise in
\nMaiduguri was full of praises for Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the Chairman of
\nthe Foundation for his spirit of human kindness and for particularly
\npicking interest in the condition of the IDPs who are mostly victims of
\nBoko Haram insurgency.<\/p>\n
It would be recalled that Aliko Dangote in his recent fact-finding tour of
\nIDPs\u2019 camps in the North-East donated a sum of N2 billion for the
\nsustenance of the IDPs and further promised to feed them during the
\nRamadan.<\/p>\n
While presenting the relief materials at Bakassi IDPs Camp to about 1,572
\nhouseholds made up of displaced people from Guzaumala local government
\narea, Governor Shettima lauded Dangote Foundation for the kind gesture and
\nsaid that words are not enough to adequately convey the gratitude of the
\npeople of Borno for the love shown to them by the Foundation.<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cIn this time of very serious challenges, Aliko Dangote choose to
\nstand with people that are less privileged, the internally displaced
\npersons thereby depicting his love for the common man.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe remain eternally indebted to his foundation for the show of support in
\nthis trying period of our states and we will ensure that the N2 billion
\ndonation he made to the state is judiciously used in the area of health
\ncare, education and resettlement of IDPs.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Governor also prayed for the return of enduring peace to Borno,
\nNortheast and Nigeria at large.<\/p>\n
Executive Secretary, State Emergency Management Agency, (SEMA), Engr
\nSatomi Ahmed in his remarks applauded Dangote for his \u201cpassion for the
\nless privileged and commitment to economic growth and development of
\nNigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n
Speaking at the flag off, Aliko Dangote represented by Chief Executive
\nOfficer of the Dangote Foundation, Zouera Youssoufou said the Foundation
\nwas coming with 106 trucks to feed about 30,000 households while 43 trucks
\nhad arrived. Items distributed include: rice, Sugar, Spaghetti, Noodles,
\nSeasoning and Salt.<\/p>\n
In 2015, the Dangote Foundation in continuation of its micro-grant scheme
\nfor vulnerable women in Nigeria had given out N400 million to women in all
\nthe local government and development areas in the state.<\/p>\n
The grant is to help the women engage in petty sales and trading in the
\nface economic challenges that has affected the capacity of the governments
