The Nigerian Air Force is to deploy more troops to the Northeast to
\nstrengthen the Nigerian Army in the fight against insurgency in the
\nregion, the Chief of Air Staff, Sadiq Baba Abubakar has said.<\/p>\n
The Chief of Air Staff made the disclosure Thursday in Kano while
\ncommissioning of some projects at Kano Air Force Base, said the deployment
\nwill commence today.<\/p>\n
“We are deploying more troops to the northeast to re-enforce army in
\nfighting insurgents in the region. We are committed to this fight and we
\nwill remain such until we rid the region of all terrorist elements,” he
\nassured.<\/p>\n
“It is our mandate to protect lives and properties of all Nigerians at all
\ncost. Much is expected of us as an institution and as individuals in
\nensuring the protection of the citizenry and other critical assets of the
\nstate.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt present, the Nigerian Air Force is deployed in many internal security
\noperations in various parts of the country. Wherever we have deployed, our
\npresence have brought hope and relief to the despaired and source of worry
\nto the criminally minded,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Abubakar also assured that NAF would continue to support Kano state
\ngovernment and other northwestern states in ensuring peace and security in
\nthe region through the operation Sharan-Daji that is being carried out in
\nthe area.<\/p>\n
The Chief of Air Staff said recently the NAF has deployed Special Forces
\nto 339 Base in Kano not only to enhance base defense but also to protect
\nproperties at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport MAKIA.<\/p>\n
He stated that projects commissioned in Kano by NAF were Single Officers
\nquarters, Non-Commissioned Officers\u2019 accommodation, Student Pilots
\nquarters, Two blocks of Married Officers\u2019 accommodation and Main entrance
