Governors on the platform of the People\u2019s Democratic Party (PDP), have<\/p>\n
pledged to bankroll the campaign of the party\u2019s standard bearer, PASTOR
\nOsagie Ize-Iyamu, in the forthcoming gubernatorial polls in Edo State.<\/p>\n
Pastor Ize Iyamu (PDP ) and Godwin Obaseki , All Progressive Congress
\n(APC) – two sons of Bini Kingdom are set to lock in a titanic battle in
\nEdo as the countdown to Governor Adams Oshiomole ‘ s exit commences.<\/p>\n
Governor Adam Oshiomole\u2019s tenure will expire in September.<\/p>\n
Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and other PDP Governors have given
\nassuring of the party’s preparedness to win in the elections.<\/p>\n
But Governor Oshiomle has boasted that Godwin Obaseki , the APC candidate
\nwould easily floor his his PDP counterpart in the gubernatorial contest.<\/p>\n
Governor Okowa who spoke before and after the keenly contested elections
\nat the Samuel Ogbemudia’s stadium, Benin City, assured the people of Edo
\nState that as members of one family, he will be involved in the PDP
\ncampaign which will usher in a progressive and development-oriented
\ngovernment in Edo State.<\/p>\n
“I thank God that I witnessed this primaries today, the organizers of the
\nprimaries promised free and fair elections, I am so glad because a
\ncandidate has emerged through a very acceptable process and it will make
\nthe work easier\u2019\u2019, he said.<\/p>\n
He added: “For the government and all of us in Delta State, we promise you
\nour support; with the one spirit I am seeing in us today, we will win the
\nelections come September.<\/p>\n
Speaking in the same vein, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Dave Umahi
\nwho was the chairman of the panel for the primary elections said, Pastor
\nIze-Iyamu polled 584 votes to beat his closest rival, Hon. Mathew
\nIduoriyekemwen who got 91 votes while Dr. Solomon Edebiri scored 38 votes.<\/p>\n
“We have every course to thank God for the grace He showered on us; we
\nwere very transparent and very honest and I congratulate the winner and
\naspirants; I thank the INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission),
\nthe security agencies and all those who played different roles for the
\nsuccess of this primary elections,” the Panel Chairman said, disclosing,
\n“total number of accredited delegates, 713, total number of delegates 751,
\nbecause, 38 delegates did not come for accreditation, there was no invalid
\nvote.”<\/p>\n
Also , Governor of Gombe State, Dr. Ibrahim Dakwambo stated, “let me seize
\nthis opportunity to congratulate the great people of Edo State, I have
\nnever seen an election that is so transparent and conducted as a family,
\nthere was no invalid vote and I want all of us to support the declared
\nwinner.”<\/p>\n
Remarking, Pastor Ize-Iyamu commended those who contested against him for
\ntheir show of love, sportsmanship and promised a new dawn for Edo State
