The United Niger Delta Energy Development Security Strategy (UNDEDSS), has<\/p>\n
urged President Muhammadu Buhari to adopt late President Musa Yar’Adua
\ntemplate in tackling the intermittent crisis in the Niger Delta region.<\/p>\n
Speaking after its emergency meeting on Tuesday, UNDEDSS Secretary
\nGeneral, Tony Uranta said that as part of the holistic solution-seeking
\nstrategy that will prove his commitment to a robustly sustainable peace in
\nthe Niger Delta region, President Buhari should taking a clue from how
\nlate President Musa Yar’Adua was able to sustain cessation of hostilities
\nin the Niger Delta region so as not to further worsen the nation’s
\nbattered oil revenue or crippling power shortfalls due to unavailability
\nof crude and gas.<\/p>\n
In a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday, Uranta said that
\nthe Federal Government already have all it takes to sustain existing peace
\nin the region, stressing that the President need to personally broadcast
\nto the nation an indefinite Federal Government ceasefire which would
\ninvolved the key actors in the region.<\/p>\n
The statement entitled; “FGN playing with Nigeria’s Unity & Future”, said;
\n“There’s no need to re-invent the wheel. All Buhari has to do is return to
\nthe very successful Yaradua Template of 2009″, maintaining however that
\nformer President Jonathan also failed to properly consolidate on President
\nYar’ Adua’s gains in the region.<\/p>\n
Uranta in the statement said President Buhari is advised to personally and
\nvisibly head a holistic solution-seeking strategy that will prove his
\ncommitment to a robustly sustainable peace in the region, for there to be
\ntrue unity, stability and progress in Nigeria”.<\/p>\n
“If Buhari follows Yaradua’s lead”, Uranta stressed; “there will be
\nsustainable cessation of hostilities in the Niger Delta, and the nation
\nwill not be subjected to further losses in National Revenues or the
\ncrippling power shortfalls due to unavailability of crude and gas”.<\/p>\n
He however berated President Buhari’s political associates and ministers
\nfor grandstanding over the issues of the Niger Delta saying that the
\nongoing farce by too many of President Buhari’s political friends and
\nMinisters, whom he said are wasting time establishing so-called Contact
\nCommittees that would not resolve the pertinent issues sustainably in the
\nregion.<\/p>\n
Uranta maintained that the Niger Delta has\u00a0 unanimously resolved to resist
\nany further attempts by the federal government to toy with Nigeria’s
\nfuture by continuing to maliciously deploy the military in the region or
\nattempting to deploy sinister divide and rule tactics against the region’s
\nkey Actors.<\/p>\n
Reiterating that the federal government has been made aware of how to
\nresolve the avoidable crisis in the region, the UNDEDSS’s scribe called on
\nthe President by way of engendering peace in the region through a holistic
\nsolution-seeking strategy to personally broadcast to the nation the
\nFederal Government’s commitment to the National Maritime University,
\nOkerenkoko; and, the appointment of a savvy Special Adviser (Niger Delta
