{"id":50928,"date":"2016-07-05T17:14:57","date_gmt":"2016-07-05T16:14:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=50928"},"modified":"2016-07-05T17:14:57","modified_gmt":"2016-07-05T16:14:57","slug":"niger-delta-avengers-destroy-chevron-npdc-nnpcs-facilities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/niger-delta-avengers-destroy-chevron-npdc-nnpcs-facilities\/","title":{"rendered":"Niger Delta Avengers Destroy More Chevron, NPDC, NNPC\u2019s Facilities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>\u2026.Group condemns acts<\/em><br \/>\nTwo days after it resumed its deadly attacks, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA)<br \/>\nhas confirmed blowing up more oil facilities in Warri, the commercial<br \/>\nnerve center of Delta State, late Monday night.<\/p>\n<p>Spokesperson, Brig Gen Mudoch Agbinibo, confirmed the fresh attacks on<br \/>\nNDA&#8217;s website on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The statement said: \u201cAt 10pm Niger Delta Avengers blow up Chevron Well 10<br \/>\nclose to Otunana flowstation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOther attacks were carried out at 11:15pm Niger Delta Avengers blow up<br \/>\nNPDC Manifold close to Banta and two PPMC\/NNPC crude oil trunk Lines.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was gathered that facilities attacked were two manifolds, operated by<br \/>\nthe Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), a subsidiary of<br \/>\nNigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) at Batan community in Warri<br \/>\nSouth West Council Area of the state.<\/p>\n<p>Also destroyed were two crude oil trunk lines, facilities of the Nigerian<br \/>\nNational Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Well 10 operated by Chevron<br \/>\nNigeria Limited (CNL) at Makaraba village in Gbaramatu Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>The group confirmed that the coordinated incidents took place at about<br \/>\n10:35pm and 11:20 late Monday night.<\/p>\n<p>Military and local sources confirmed the attacks , but the officials of<br \/>\nthe oil firms were not ready to react to the dastard acts by Avengers.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Condemnations have continued to trail the weekend bombings of<br \/>\nfive oil and gas installation by the rampaging Niger Delta Avengers (NDA)<br \/>\nafter a lull in their nefarious activities.<\/p>\n<p>A foremost Non-Governmental Organization, Center for Peace and<br \/>\nEnvironmental Justice (CEPEJ), has joined the league of Nigerians and<br \/>\norganizations to condemn the dastard acts which have upended the gains<br \/>\nrecorded in recent weeks.<\/p>\n<p>This is contained in a statement signed by its Coordinator, Comrade<br \/>\nSheriff Mulade, stating that the continued bombings of oil and gas<br \/>\nfacilities was ill-wind that does the region no good rather it was<br \/>\nadversely affecting the environment and slowing down the economy.<\/p>\n<p>The NGO reiterated its appeal to the Avengers to sheathe its swords and<br \/>\nallow peace to reign as no development can take place in an environment<br \/>\nwracked by conflicts.<\/p>\n<p>Besides, the Center appealed to the federal government to go ahead with<br \/>\nthe proposed peace talks, but cautioned against engaging the militants in<br \/>\nthe peace parley, suggesting rather that critical stakeholders should be<br \/>\nidentified and engaged by the government; otherwise government would<br \/>\ncreate more rooms for other pseudo groups to emerge.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2019If the government wants to truly resolve the issues, it should involve<br \/>\ncritical leaders and not political stakeholders; otherwise it will be<br \/>\nanother jamboree and failed attempts. The fundamental issues are clear:<br \/>\nthe people of the Niger Delta need development and remediation of their<br \/>\nenvironment which has been devastated by years of oil and gas exploration<br \/>\nand exploitative activities.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2019The politicians are the beneficiaries of the system. When they are<br \/>\nfraternizing with the militants on one hand, they want to end militancy on<br \/>\nthe other.
