The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo
\nstate, Pastor Ize-Iyamu on Monday has assured the People of Edo State that
\nhis government will change their lot for the better.<\/p>\n
The Candidate who said he was aware of the pains felt by the people called
\non the people to join his party to change the current regime of oppression
\nand deceit.<\/p>\n
Speaking to a mammoth crowd at the Baptist Convention Ground in Benin,
\nvenue of his flag off, Ize-Iyamu said, “Edo people, we feel your pains, we
\nhear your cries. That is why we are contesting\u201d.<\/p>\n
He added, “We must restore the lost glory of Edo State. Join us to change
\nthe change. Join us to change this government of deceit<\/p>\n
\u201cWe promise you, the change we will bring will not put you in bondage,
\nunemployment, kill businesses\u201d, adding that the change he was promising
\nwould support agriculture, create jobs, industries and bring even
\ndevelopment to all parts of the state.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are tired of deceit. We will give scholarships, bursaries, build
\nschools and provide sporting facilities\u201d<\/p>\n
The governorship hopeful thanked his party for giving him the mandate and
\ndescribed it as a privilege and honour to fly the PDP flag and expressed
\noptimism that his party will win the September 10 elections with the
\nsupport of the people<\/p>\n
Ize-Iyamu who used the ocassion to introduce his running mate, Hon John
\nYakubu, also promised to develop every part of the state, and not
\ndiscrminate against any zone.<\/p>\n
The Edo State PDP Chairman, Chief Dan Orbih brought relief to the audience
\nas he announced that there were no more factions in the party as a High
\nCourt sitting in Port Harcourt affirmed Sen Ahmed Makarfi as the authentic
\nchairman of the party.<\/p>\n
Orbih described the party’s candidate, Ize-Iyamu as the political redeemer
\nof the state, whom he said would deliver the PDP’s vision of a greater Edo
\nState.<\/p>\n
He\u00a0 lamented that the intolerance exhibited by the state governor by
\ndenying the party the use of the Sam Ogbemudia stadium and called on people
\nof the state to dismiss the ruling APC from the government house come
\nSeptember
\n10, 2016.<\/p>\n
He stated that the decision of the governor to impose a candidate on the
\npeople of Edo state in the person of Godwin Obaseki is unacceptable, and
\nwill not stand.<\/p>\n
He also accused the governor of withdrawing N500 million every month from
\nthe state’s account in the name of “urgent security matters”, even as he
\nasked, “is Boko Haram in the state?\u201d.<\/p>\n
The event was attended by citizens from all walks of life across the three
\nsenatorial districts of the state, traditional rulers, civil society
\ngroups, the business community and prominent politicians including former
\nPDP BoT chairman, Chief Tony Anenih; the Esama of Benin Kingdom, Chief
