President Muhammadu Buhari has said that he is not unaware of what the<\/p>\n
people are going through and promised that better days are ahead.<\/p>\n
In his Eid-el-Fitr message to Nigerians, released in Abuja, on Tuesday,
\nthe president stressed the need for Nigerians to demonstrate the virtue of
\ntolerance towards one another, irrespective of religion, language and
\npolitical leanings.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet us learn to show gratitude, respect and tolerance to one other,
\nirrespective of our religion, tribe, language and political leanings, as
\nwe forge ahead to build on our strengths and opportunities to make Nigeria
\ngreat again,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The president added: \u201cI am not unaware of what Nigerians are going through
\nand I want to use this medium to commend the amazing sacrifices of
\nNigerians in the face of the temporary economic and social challenges and
\nalso reassure Nigerians that my administration is working assiduously
\ntowards providing basic needs and other amenities.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet me also use this opportunity to reaffirm that we will not relent in
\nthe fight against corruption and we will ensure that all appropriate and
\nlegal measures are deplored to root out this malaise.<\/p>\n
\u201cI commend the armed forces and security agencies for the gains recorded
\nin the fight against terrorists and the rescue of hostages in the
\nNorth-East part of the country.\u201d<\/p>\n
Recalling that he hosted Iftar reception with Nigerians of different
\nbackgrounds, including internally displaced persons (IDPs), artisans and
\nphysically-challenged persons, the president appealed to the wealthy to
\nremember the millions of Nigerians \u201cwho are suffering deprivation because
\nof violence perpetrated by terrorists.\u201d<\/p>\n
Buhari also appealed for the support, understanding and patience of all
\nNigerians and the international partners as his government explored \u201cthe
\nfastest means to end the economic sabotage in the Niger Delta and amicably
\nresolve the conflicts within the region,\u201d saying: \u201cI promise you all
\nbetter days ahead, even as we remain grateful for your unflinching support
\nto our administration.\u201d<\/p>\n
While praying for Allah\u2019s blessing on the nation, he felicitated with all
\nNigerians, especially the Muslim Ummah, on the occasion of this year\u2019s
\nEid-el-Fitr, which marks the completion of the Ramadan fast.<\/p>\n
He congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and around the world on the successful
\ncompletion of the month-long spiritual journey of fasting, prayer and
\nalmsgiving in obedience to the divine command.<\/p>\n
He prayed that the Almighty Allah will reward the sacrifices with
\nincreased blessing and a more prosperous future.<\/p>\n
According to him, \u201con this happy occasion, it is my strong belief that all
\ntrue followers of Islam have been rejuvenated on the true meaning and
\nessence of life and through the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), we
\nhave learnt to imbibe the virtues of piety, sacrifice, love, self-denial
\nand good conduct in our daily relationship with one another.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs we celebrate another Eid-el-Fitr, I admonish all patriotic Nigerians
\nto uphold these lessons and also appreciate the numerous material and
\nhuman blessings God has endowed us with.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, has felicitated with
\nMuslims in Nigeria on the occasion of this year\u2019s Eid-El-Fitr.<\/p>\n
In a telephone conversation with President Buhari on Tuesday, Erdogan
\nrejoiced with Nigerians on the successful completion of this year\u2019s
