Ekiti State Government has accused the All Progress Congress (APC)<\/p>\n
federal government of using security agencies to lay siege on the
\nState, calling on lovers of democracy in the Nigeria and the
\ninternational community to save democracy from being truncated by
\npeople who refused to accept defeat two years after losing a free,
\nfair and credible election.<\/p>\n
The government, which said over 20 policemen led by one ACP Olusola
\nOke, a native of Isan Ekiti, hometown of Minister of Solid Minerals
\nand former Governor of the State, Dr Kayode Fayemi; CSP Ayodeji and
\nCSP Enang were billed to invade the State and embark on indiscriminate
\narrest of top officials of the State government, PDP leaders and
\nmembers of the State House of Assembly based on frivolous petitions
\nwritten by the APC in the State.<\/p>\n
According to the Special Assistant to the State Governor on Public
\nCommunications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the government said the
\nplanned invasion of the State by policemen was the second in three
\nmonths, after the first attempt was aborted in March.<\/p>\n
The government accused some APC leaders like Femi Falana (SAN),
\nSenator Babafemi Ojudu, Yinka Akerele and others of working in
\ncollaboration with some Abuja based people to imposed emergency rule
\non the State, so that the APC could have easy passage in the 2018
\ngovernorship election.<\/p>\n
The government said; \u201cFirst, it was the invasion of the House of
\nAssembly with armed men of the Department of State Service (DSS) and
\nthe illegal frozen of the governor\u2019s bank accounts. Now, it is the use
\nof policemen to invade the State, acting on frivolous and ridiculous
\npetitions from APC leaders from Ekiti State, who are acting like bad
\nlosers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThose plotting this evil should know that Ekiti people are getting
\nenraged, and wondering if Ekiti is the only State in Nigeria where
\nelection was conducted and APC lost. The people are getting miffed
\nthat a few minority in Abuja will continue to wage war against their
\nown State because they lost an election. On begin to wonder at the use
\nof police to harass the people just because they elected a governor of
\ntheir choice. Is this part of democracy?<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need to remind Nigerians that when APC was in government in Ekiti
\nState, the PDP led federal government did not muscle any APC
\ncontrolled state.<\/p>\n
The government said all attempts by the APC to return to power through
\nthe backdoor will fail, adding that the party should rather prepare
\nfor 2018 instead of running from the Army, DSS, EFCC and now to the
\npolice.<\/p>\n
The government also cautioned the APC led federal government not to
\ndestroy democracy in the country by muscling opposition, alerting the
\ninternational community to take note of the danger facing democracy in
