Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has described the late Umaru Shinkafi as
\na committed nationalist who worked tirelessly for the unity and development
\nof the country.<\/p>\n
Speaking in Sokoto Sunday when he paid a condolence visit to the decead’s
\nfamily and the Sultan of Sokoto, Obasanjo said Shinkafi’s death, and that
\nof Maiduguri-based elder statesman, Shattima Ali Monguno, have robbed the
\ncountry of honest voices who still had a lot to offer the nation.<\/p>\n
He said even though we cannot question the work of God, present leaders
\nshould emulate both Shinkafi and Monguno in their dealings with other
\nNigerians.<\/p>\n
Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal thanked Obasanjo for the visit, and prayed
\nto God to reward him accordingly.<\/p>\n
On his part, Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad commended Obasanjo for his gesture of
\nfriendship, adding that Shinkafi lived a worthy life of service to his
\ncountry.<\/p>\n
Obasanjo equally paid a visit to former President Shehu Shagari and prayed
\nto God to grant him good health.
