{"id":51310,"date":"2016-07-18T21:42:49","date_gmt":"2016-07-18T20:42:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=51310"},"modified":"2016-07-18T21:42:49","modified_gmt":"2016-07-18T20:42:49","slug":"2016-budgetbuhari-promises-fully-comply-fiscal-responsibility-act","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/2016-budgetbuhari-promises-fully-comply-fiscal-responsibility-act\/","title":{"rendered":"2016 BUDGET:BUHARI PROMISES TO FULLY COMPLY WITH THE FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY ACT"},"content":{"rendered":"<pre>The administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, which came to power on\r\nthe plank of anti-corruption and good governance, will fully comply with\r\nthe provisions of the Fiscal Responsibility Act and other extant laws as\r\nthey relate to the submission of budget proposals of Federal Government\r\nagencies and corporations to the National Assembly.\r\n\r\nThe President has lived up to this commitment of accountability and\r\ntransparency with the recent submission of the proposed budgets of CBN,\r\nNNPC, Nigerian Ports Authority and others.\r\n\r\n\"The transmission of budgets for the MDAs to the National Assembly,\r\nparticularly those regarding the Central Bank and the NNPC behemoth is\r\nclearly unprecedented.\r\n\r\n\"The President is determined to make the budgeting process more\r\ntransparent and participatory.\r\n\r\n\"It is all part of the re-engineering of the entire processes of\r\ngovernance for the benefit of ordinary citizens,\" Malam Garba Shehu,\r\npresidential spokesman explained in a chat with newsmen, following the\r\ntransmission of the President\u2019s letter to the National Assembly on the\r\nmatter .\r\n\r\nAccording to Shehu, the President strongly believes that good governance\r\nand transparency are integral to the nation's progress and key to the\r\nFederal Government\u2019s programme to revamp the economy.\r\n\r\nHe said by responding positively to the demand of the National Assembly\r\nthat MDA budgets be laid before it for scrutiny, a demand mostly ignored\r\nby past administrations, ``President Buhari has indeed given a clear\r\nindication of his commitment to an open, transparent and people-oriented\r\ngovernment for Nigerians.\u2019\u2019\r\n\r\nThe Presidential spokesman added that the current administration has also\r\ndemonstrated its respect for the parliament, as a principal arm of\r\ngovernment in a constitutional democracy.\r\n\r\n\"Our hope and expectation is that the National Assembly, acting in the\r\nbest interest of the nation will allow the immediate operationalization of\r\nthe MDAs budgets, so that the momentum of growth of the economy which has\r\nbegun to build up will be sustained,\" Shehu said.\r\n<\/pre>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, which came to power on the plank of anti-corruption and good governance, will fully comply with the provisions of the Fiscal Responsibility Act and&hellip;<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":49655,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-51310","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
