A civil rights movement, Committee for the Defence of Women’s Rights, has<\/p>\n
uncovered a plan by the wife of a former governor of Lagos State and
\nchairman, Senate Committee on Women Affairs, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu to
\nsponsor a protest against Senator Dino Melaye this coming Wednesday in
\nAbuja.<\/p>\n
The organisation said she has released N75 million to Lagos State APC
\nWoman Leader, Mrs. Kemi Nelson through one of her sisters simply
\nidentified as Funlola.<\/p>\n
The National President of CDWR, Prof. Taibat Majekodunmi, made the
\nrevelation in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja.<\/p>\n
Already, the protesters have stormed Abuja and have booked for 300 rooms
\nin many Hotels in hotels in Abuja.<\/p>\n
She said, “We have it on good authority that N75 million has been released
\nby Senator Okuremi Tinubu to Mrs. Kemi Nelson through Mrs. Tinubu’s sister
\ncalled Funlola. The money is to organise a protest in Abuja on Wednesday
\nagainst the chairman, Denate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory
\n(FCT), Dino Melaye, with 1,000 protesters from Lagos.<\/p>\n
“The protesters have booked for 300 rooms in some in hotels in Abuja. Why
\ndid she not organise a protest against the hardship of Nigerian women and
\nwidows. As we speak, Alade market in Ogba area of Lagos has been destroyed
\nand all the women rendered shopless. Oluremi Tinubu did not organise
\nprotest about that.<\/p>\n
“Against the provisions of the constitution of the All Progressives
\nCongress (APC), Kemi Nelson doubles at the State APC Women leader in Lagos
\nand also the zonal women leader of APC in the South West. This will show
\nher greediness and why the Tinubu dynasty has taken over Lagos.<\/p>\n
“Women were killed in Kano and Abuja and Mrs. Tinubu is the chairman,
\nSenate Committee on Women Affairs. She did not organise protest over these
\nkillings. Mrs. Tinubu has not protested against the skyrocketed price of
\ntomatoes in the market. In the same vein, kerosine is now over N200 per
\nlitre and she didn’t organised any protest to that effect.<\/p>\n
“Instead, she has taken advantage of the prevailing poverty in the land to
\nhire hungry women in the land to partake in an unproductive protest
\nagainst Dino Melaye. Women like Funmilayo Ransome Kuti, Hajiya Gambosa
\nSawaba, Sarah Jubril, fought for woman race without attacking any man.
\nMrs. Oluremi Tinubu should emulate the likes of Margaret Thatcher, Indira
\nGhandhi, Benazir Bhutto and our own dear Dora Akunyili.<\/p>\n
“You can imagine what N75 million will do in the lives of widows and
\nhungry Nigerian women. We dare Mrs. Tinubu to go ahead with her planned
\nN75 million protest in Abuja. We will also mobilise Nigerian women against
\nthis ostentatious display of wealth while the average Nigerian women
