{"id":51402,"date":"2016-07-22T06:20:29","date_gmt":"2016-07-22T05:20:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=51402"},"modified":"2016-07-22T06:20:29","modified_gmt":"2016-07-22T05:20:29","slug":"jibrin-blackmailer-house","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/jibrin-blackmailer-house\/","title":{"rendered":"Jibrin Is A Blackmailer-House"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"messagecontent\">\n<div class=\"leftcol\">\n<div id=\"messagebody\">\n<div class=\"message-part\">\n<pre>The House of Representatives has accused the sacked Appropriation\r\nCommittee Chairman, Hon Abdulmumuni Jibrin of blackmailing the leadership\r\nof the House in his claim that they atempted to pad the 2016 Budget with\r\nN40billion.\r\n\r\nThe House in a statement signed by Hon AbdulRazak Namdas who is the Chair\r\nof the Committee on Media and Publicity said the allegations leveled\r\nagainst the House Leadership by Jibrin were an afterthought\r\n\r\nThe Statement reads:\r\n\r\nOur attention has been down to media statements made by the former\r\nChairman of House Appropriation Committee, Hon Abdulmumuni Jibrin wherein\r\nhe made wild allegations against the House of Representatives and it's\r\nleaders.\r\n\r\nWe wish to say that it is the prerogative of the Selection Committee of\r\nthe House  to appoint and remove Committee Chairmen.That power has been so\r\nexercised in the case of Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin as chairman of\r\nAppropriation Committee.\r\n\r\nMost of the allegations on the 2016  budget process and his opposition to\r\nimmunity of Presiding officers  are non issues and mere afterthough\r\nmanufactured simply because the House relieved him of his position.\r\n\r\nIf he had all these 'facts' before ,why didnt he make them public? Why is\r\nhe doing that now?\r\n\r\nHon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, like any other member of the House knows that\r\nthere are conventions and precedents as it relates to budgets and projects\r\nfor principal officers of the National Assembly . Why is he making it an\r\nissue now? In any case, he is entitled to his opinion as a Nigerian and as\r\na legislator while acting within the laws of Nigeria and rules of the\r\nHouse.\r\n\r\nWe must make it abundantly clear that he was not removed because of his\r\nsupport or otherwise on immunity bill. Afterall he is not the only one who\r\nopposed the bill.\r\n\r\n\r\nThe bill is still pending before committee on review of constitution and\r\nit has to be voted upon by each and every member of the House, get Senate\r\nconcurrence, endorsed by two-third of the 36 State Houses of Assembly and\r\nbe assented to by the President. It is a cheap blackmail on the part of\r\nHon. Jibrin to even insinuate that he was removed because he opposed\r\nimmunity bill.\r\n\r\nHe should not distract the House from giving legislative support on \r\nimportant issues facing the government concerning the revival of the\r\neconomy, insecurity in the country, pursuit of anti-corruption measures,\r\npoverty alleviation, infrastructural development etc. The Nigerian people\r\nare simply not ready to waste their time on personal issues and personal\r\negos of our leaders. We should face the urgent tasks before us for which\r\nwe were elected.\r\n\r\nSigned\r\n\r\nHon.
