(Rev). Dr.\u00a0 S. I.<\/p>\n<p>Usunaele hall at Emokpae primary school premises in Benin City<\/p>\n<p>attracted Christians, Muslims and pagan worshippers united for a<\/p>\n<p>single course that their arrears be paid.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Comrade Pullen Noruwa, chairman of N.U.P, Edo state council disclosed<\/p>\n<p>that the gathering was aim at seeking divine intervention following<\/p>\n<p>excruciating pains experience by the pensioners in the state.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Comrade Noruwa said that: &#8220;inspite of the constrains and challenges<\/p>\n<p>the\u00a0 pensioners face in the struggle to ensure payment of their<\/p>\n<p>pension\u00a0 benefits, we should pray to the Almighty God to touch the<\/p>\n<p>heart of those in\u00a0 authority to facilitate the payment of our<\/p>\n<p>outstanding pension benefits.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Noruwa explained that some of the problems face by pensioner is<\/p>\n<p>alleged\u00a0 refusal by the comrade Adams Oshiomhole led government in the<\/p>\n<p>non payment\u00a0 of 6% and 15% pension increases to state pensioners.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The non payment of all outstanding arrears of pensions; the non<\/p>\n<p>harmonization of pensioners pension; non payment of outstanding<\/p>\n<p>monthly pension of local government pensioners in the state&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>including, the non payment of 33% pension increase.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The pensioners who collectively threatened to vote out the ruling all<\/p>\n<p>progressives congress (A.P.C) in the forthcoming coming governorship<\/p>\n<p>election if these issues are not addressed, demand expedite action on<\/p>\n<p>placement of the retired pensioners on payroll.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Noruwa also called for payment of all outstanding gratuities to the<\/p>\n<p>pensioners in the state and payment of three months salary in lieu of<\/p>\n<p>notice to the officers compulsorily retired in the years 1996 and 2000<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On his part, Elder G.O Osemwenkhai on behalf of all concerned<\/p>\n<p>pensioners\/retirees, Edo state added that: &#8220;we hereby use this medium<\/p>\n<p>to appeal to our royal Fathers, Politicians, Elder Statesmen, Mothers,<\/p>\n<p>the Clergy and All Well-Meaning Citizens of Edo State to prevail on<\/p>\n<p>the State Government to pay arrears of pension entitlements to over<\/p>\n<p>one thousand deprived pensioners.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Osemwenkhai maintain that for the avoidance of doubt, the State<\/p>\n<p>Government has delayed the payment of arrears of pension ranging from<\/p>\n<p>10 to 42 months as a result of which pensioners have been groaning in<\/p>\n<p>penury and pains.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed that pensioners in the state will on Monday embark on a<\/p>\n<p>mass protest will take place across the three senatorial district of<\/p>\n<p>the state.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The interdenominational prayer session was attended by Sheikh Amedu<\/p>\n<p>Oyakhire, Alh. Shehu Dododawa, Alh.
