The Nigeria Security and civil defence Corps (NSCDC) Ogun state Command
\nhas rescued a nine year old boy at Ajibawo village along Atan-Ota in
\nAdo-Odo Ota Local government area of Ogun State Nigeria who was chained
\nwith padlock for allegedly stealing soup.<\/p>\n
The nine year old boy named Korede Taiwo was alleged of stealing soup from
\nthe cooking pot of his step mother named kehinde. She reported to the
\nFather who took step by chaining his hand and legs.<\/p>\n
A good Samaritan informed NSCDC officials on surveillance patrol of the
\narea, they immediately swong into action and ensure the boy was
\nimmediately rescued.<\/p>\n
According to the information from officer in charge of Ado-Odo NSCDC
\nDivision who led the rescue operation , the boy had been chained for two
\nweeks at the Celestial Church of Christ (Key of Joy Parish).<\/p>\n
Upon rescued, the boy was looking tired and pail and was not able to talk.<\/p>\n
church members led by the pastor’s wife Kehinde resisted the rescue of the
\nboy. Civil defence Corps men insisted, and they were able to force their
\nway into the church premises.<\/p>\n
The boy was rescued under lock and key. He was quickly took him to the
\noffice for necessary entries and documentation and proceeded to the
\nGeneral Hospital, Ota.<\/p>\n
Dr. Akintunde who administered first aid to the boy asked NSCDC officials
\nwho took him there to cut the chains so as to enable them administer
\ntreatment.<\/p>\n
Before NSCDC left the hospital, he has been responding to treatment as he
\nhas started talking. However, the Hospital Medical Director one Dr.
\nOsinbajo who came later assures the Corps that the boy will get necessary
\nmedical attention needed.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Corps has since liased with the police at Atan,who promised
\nto continue with the investigation and do all necessary things needed.<\/p>\n
When contacted, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, CSC Kareem Olanrewaju
\nconfirmed the incident and said, the case will be handed over to the
\npolice for further investigation.<\/p>\n
He said the step mother;kehinde Akorede, the chain and padlock have been
\nhanded over to the police. He stressed that, the case was not among those
\nunder the mandate of NSCDC to prosecute so it has to be handed over to the
\nappropriate agency.<\/p>\n
He added that when an information is received, the agency received such
\nmust act and handover to appropriate agency having direct jurisdiction.<\/p>\n
Kareem stressed further that, in the course of resistance by the step
\nmother kehinde and others when the NSCDC officials got to the church, the
\nfather Taiwo, Who is also the Pastor of the church escaped. All this
\ninformation have been relayed to the police to them in their subsequent
