Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has said that there are
\nprospects for Spanish companies to invest in the state, for economic and
\nsocial development.<\/p>\n
The governor, who stated this during a meeting the Spanish Ambassador to
\nNigeria, Mr. Alfonso Barnuevo and a representative of Spanish investment
\ncompanies said opportunities abound for accelerated development in the
\nstate.<\/p>\n
The focus of the meeting is a follow up to their last meeting in November,
\n2015 where they discussed likely investment in the areas of solar energy,
\nagriculture, water management and health among others.<\/p>\n
Governor Ganduje reiterated commitment to ensure that investors from Spain
\nand other countries get the desired conducive environment for doing
\nbusiness in the state.<\/p>\n
He stated that his government is providing several incentives to encourage
\nForeign Direct Investment emphasizing that besides being a sprawling
\ncommercial center, Kano has mostly untapped potential for alternative
\nenergy supply, agriculture mining and enterprising human capital.<\/p>\n
On his part, Ambassador Alfonso Barnuevo told the governor that some
\ncompanies from Spain have indicated interest to invest in the Solar Energy
\nsector of the state and the administration\u2019s proposed light rail project,
\nwhere the company is looking at the possibility of investing in couches,
\nafter the provision of infrastructure for the light rail.<\/p>\n
He stated that representatives from a Spanish Company will come to Kano
\nnext August for further discussions on the solar power project among other
\nareas of interests.<\/p>\n
The Ambassador expressed appreciation to Governor Ganduje for the warm
\nreception accorded to him and his delegation during their recent visit to
\nKano to witness the famous Eid El Fitr Durbar celebrations, hoping the
\ncordial relation between his country and Nigeria would continue to
