At least no fewer than 4 persons were reportedly killed while food stuff
\nand cash crops worth millions of Naira were washed away as a result of
\nheavy down pour in Hayin Gwarmai village in Bebeji Local Government Area
\nof Kano State yesterday.<\/p>\n
The Chairman of the Local Government, Alhaji Mudansiru Bebeji, told
\nnewsmen in Kano state government House this afternoon that the flood also
\nwashed away several farms in area.<\/p>\n
Bebeji said a number of 269\u00a0 houses had also been destroyed during the
\ndisaster.<\/p>\n
He said he had since paid a sympathy visit to the victims of the disaster
\nand called on the federal and state governments to come to the aid of the
\nvictims to alleviate their sufferings.<\/p>\n
We are calling on the Federal and Kano State governments to assist the
\nvictims to reduce their sufferings, he said.<\/p>\n
The Director, Operations, Kano State Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation
\nAgency, Alhaji Abdullahi Dambatta, said the agency had not received any
\nofficial report on the incident from the local government council.<\/p>\n
Dambatta, however, said as soon as the agency got the report it would
\nforward same to the state government for necessary assistance to the
