{"id":51847,"date":"2016-08-03T00:30:09","date_gmt":"2016-08-02T23:30:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=51847"},"modified":"2016-08-03T00:30:09","modified_gmt":"2016-08-02T23:30:09","slug":"enugu-govt-gets-200m-renewable-energy-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/enugu-govt-gets-200m-renewable-energy-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Enugu Govt Gets $200m Renewable Energy Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<pre>...To generate 300 mega watts of solar energy into the national grid\r\n\r\nA US-based renewable energy power firm, Motir DuSable Power Investment\r\nLimited, has sited its 200m dollar solar project in Enugu State to\r\ngenerate 300 mega watts of solar power into the national grid.\r\n\r\nIn the first phase of the project, the firm is to generate 100 mega\r\nwatts of solar energy which will subsequently be increased to 200 mega\r\nwatts in the second phase.\r\n\r\nThe drivers of the project which is a joint venture between two\r\nUS-based power firms have already signed an MoU with the Federal\r\nGovernment of Nigeria to site the project in Enugu State with the goal\r\nof making the state the hub for renewable energy generation in\r\nSub-Sahara Africa.\r\n\r\nThe chairman of the firm, Mr. Emmanuel Irono, yesterday made a\r\npresentation of the company\u2019s planned take-off of the project during a\r\nperformance review retreat of the Enugu State Executive Council\r\nholding at Nike Lake hotel, with Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in\r\nattendance.\r\n\r\nAccording to Irono, chairman of Motir DuSable Power Investment\r\nLimited, \u201cWe have a joint venture that would enable us to bring this\r\nproject to Nigeria and we are licensed and have gone through all the\r\nprocesses and procedure in terms of the power purchasing. Also, we\r\nhave an alliance that can help us go through the various segments\r\nnecessary for this project to be successful.\r\n\r\n\u201cSo, today is the first day that we are meeting with the governor and\r\nhis executive council members right here in Enugu and we are very\r\npleased that it turned out a positive meeting\u201d, he explained.\r\n\r\nHe further stated that the project comes in phases, adding that the\r\nfirst phase will cost about 200m dollars while another phase that will\r\ncome thereafter would also cost 200m dollars. \u201cDepending on the\r\ncapacity we can do as they allow us but our partners are willing to\r\nconsummate the project\u201d.\r\n\r\nOn the gains of the gigantic project, he said, \u201cOur intention is to be\r\nable to bring more jobs, more opportunities, more innovations to Enugu\r\nState and to Nigeria. We believe that this will be a fantastic project\r\nfor job creation and a mission critical for the Federal Government of\r\nNigeria and Enugu State.\r\n\r\n\u201cThis is because we can empower Enugu State people to have access to\r\npower. If everybody wins, it becomes a win-win situation for all of\r\nus\u201d, he stated.\r\n\r\n\u201cThe state will be a collaborating partner in terms of making sure\r\nthat our investment is safe and that the money we are bringing in is\r\nsafe. They are not a financial partner.
