A prominent politician and former member of the Ondo State House of<\/p>\n
Assembly, Prince Ademola Adegoroye has joined the on-going governorship
\nrace in the state on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.<\/p>\n
In a statement signed by his Director of Media, Mr Dennis Oluwumi issued
\nin Akure yesterday, Prince Adegoroye, from the royal family in Akure, who
\nwas elected on the platform of the Democratic Party of Nigeria and later
\nAlliance for Democracy to the Ondo State House of Assembly precipitates
\nhis desire to restore hope and dignity of the people of Ondo State.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt this critical stage of the history of our state, we need tested and
\ntrusted hands to man strategic political positions in the state in order
\nto bring a rebirth and restore the dignity of our people who have been
\ndegraded by poor management of resources,\u201d the respected lawyer who once
\npracticed at the Wole Olanipekunn Chambers said.<\/p>\n
Adegoroye said though the battle for the number one seat in the state
\nremains a tough one, he said a clear study of the current spate of affairs
\nespecially as it affects the economy, education, health and human capital
\ndevelopment requires great attention.<\/p>\n
The former lawmaker who is a member of the State Strategy and Mobilisation
\ncommittees<\/p>\n
contested the gubernatorial election in 2007 on the platform of the Action
\nCongress and came third behind Dr. Segun Agagu of the Peoples Democratic
\nParty and Dr. Olusegun Mimiko on the Labour Party said he would bring his
\nmastery of governance and grassroots politics to the fore when elected.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have what it takes to govern the state and revamp its economy, its
\nmineral deposits, especially the bitumen in the state and pursue the
\nstate\u2019s development in consonance with the provisions contained in APC
\nmanifesto\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
While counting on the support of party leaders and members in the state
\nand throughout the country ahead of the primaries, Prince Adegoroye said
\nAkure, which produces a huge percentage of votes in the previous elections
\nshould be given the priority to produce a governor of the state this time
