The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, OYC, has accused President Muhammadu<\/p>\n
Buhari of being anti Igbo and urged him to release the detained leader,
\nwithout further delay.<\/p>\n
The youth group wondered why the Federal Government would continue to
\ndetain Kanu who has never taken up arms against the state while members of
\nthe dreaded Boko Haram terror group are being serially released from
\ndetention.<\/p>\n
In a statement signed by its National President, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro,
\ninsisted that the continued detention of the IPOB leader even against
\ncourt orders, is the cause of the escalating tension and ill- feelings in
\nthe South East and part of South South zone, and portrays President
\nBuhari’s administration as anti- Igbo.<\/p>\n
It further stated that said intelligence reports available to the Igbo
\nyouths group indicated that there could be a total breakdown of law and
\norder in the entire South East and South South zones if Kanu is not
\nreleased soon.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt beats our imagination that terrorists who have been responsible for
\nthe death of innocent Nigerians are being released while unarmed freedom
\nfighters are kept behind the bars against court orders.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis bias poses serious threat to our peace and national unity, and we
\nhope the President will address it before it becomes too late”, the
\nstatement said.<\/p>\n
On the tussle over the Abia state governorship position, Ohanaeze youth
\ncouncil argued that the Abia Charter of Equity which recommends power
\nrotation among the senatorial zones in the state should be respected for
\njustice and fair play.<\/p>\n
“Anything that truncates the zoning arrangement in the state could pose
\nsecurity threat which will not be in the interest of anybody. As Igbo
\nyouths, we can’t afford to sit back and watch any Igbo state put into
\navoidable crisis, hence our call for the Abia Charter of Equity to be
\nrespected by all the parties.<\/p>\n
\u201cRemoving Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu who is the first and only governor from
\nUkwa\/ Ngwa zone amounts to shortchanging the entire Abia South zone as
\nother zones has produced two term governors. We advise that the wise
\ndecision of the founding fathers of the state who put in place the power
