Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has said that Nigerians were<\/p>\n
suffering under the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of
\nPresident Mohammadu Buhari because \u201cthe country is in the hands of
\nwrong managers who do not know what to do and out of nepotism, not
\nready to be assisted by those who know.\u201d<\/p>\n
The governor said \u201cpresently, Nigerians are suffering, hungry and
\nangry because the APC federal government has run the country aground,\u201d
\nadding that; \u201cNigeria has gone beyond recession, the economy has
\ncollapsed completely and painfully, those who should revive the
\neconomy do not have any clue as to what to do.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a release issued in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, by his Special Assistant
\non Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose
\nsaid Nigeria was experiencing the worst form of nepotism in the
\nhistory of government in the country, saying; \u201cnepotism is the reason
\nour President discarded competent people in his party that should be
\nrunning the government with him and opted for his relatives, friends,
\nin-laws and very close associates.\u201d<\/p>\n
“The only qualification to hold key positions in the Presidency is to
\nknow a certain nephew of the President or be a member of his family,
\nthat’s nepotism and what nepotism breeds is incompetence.<\/p>\n
“The most influential person in the Presidency today is said to be one
\nMamman Daura, who is a nephew of the President. Personal Assistant to
\nPresident Buhari is said to be the son of Mamman Daura while the State
\nChief of Protocol said to be married to Mamman Daura\u2019s daughter.<\/p>\n
“It is also the height of nepotism that apart from just two, all
\nsecurity chiefs and heads of all the paramilitary agencies in Nigeria,
\nas well as all the political-heads overseeing all the military and
\nparamilitary arms and agencies are from the North of Nigeria,” the
\ngovernor said.<\/p>\n
He said President Buhari was obviously being tormented by fear of the
\nunknown, which he described as the main reason people take to
\nnepotism.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a leader, you don\u2019t need to fear anything. But the moment a leader
\npeeps into the future, realising that his lack of capacity could have
\nconsequential effects on him, such a leader will definitely resort to
\nnepotism to protect himself.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlso, the moment a government is unable to guarantee the existence of
\nthe people, it must resort to nepotism to protect itself and that is
\nexactly what is being witnessed in Nigeria, especially with the
\nlopsided appointments of security chiefs and key functionaries of the
\nFederal Government,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
While lamenting the parlous state of the country\u2019s economy, Governor
\nFayose said; \u201cMost of those people that aided the emergence of
\nPresident Buhari must be having a rethink now, but it is too late!<\/p>\n
\u201cInterestingly, political affiliation has nothing to do with hunger,
\npoverty and lack.<\/p>\n
\u201cExchange rate was less than N200 to $1 when President Buhari took
\nover power, as at today, it has gone beyond N400 to $1 and Naira is
\nstill undergoing a free fall. One bag of rice was less than N8, 000 as
\nat May 2016, it is now N20, 000. Kerosene is now beyond the reach of
\nthe masses.<\/p>\n
“Nigerians voted for change because the APC promised them solutions to
\nthe country\u2019s problems, but all we hear every day from the APC Federal
\nGovernment are complaints upon complaints as if Nigerians elected a
\ngovernment of complaints.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously, the APC government has failed Nigerians and the President
\nhas resorted to putting his immediate family members and close
\nassociates in key government positions to protect himself from the
