Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has condemned the Tuesday\u2019s<\/p>\n
invasion and seal off of the residence of former Kano State Governor,
\nSenator Rabiu Kwankwaso by armed policemen to prevent a mass wedding
\nprogramme, reiterating his earlier warning that the All Progressives
\nCongress (APC) and its supporters have built dictatorship round
\nPresident Muhammadu Buhari by not joining other Nigerians to condemn
\nhis undemocratic acts.<\/p>\n
The governor, who said he was more concerned about the rape of
\ndemocracy and the rule law under the APC government of President
\nBuhari, added that; \u201cThe fact that Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso is of the
\nruling APC should worry well-meaning Nigerians because it appears no
\none will be spared by this anti-democracy agents that have taking over
\nNigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday, by the Special
\nAssistant to governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere
\nOlayinka, Governor Fayose wondered where it was written in the laws of
\nNigeria that Nigerians must obtain Police permit to hold wedding
\nceremony or even to assemble in private residence.<\/p>\n
The statement read; \u201cWhen they invaded the Akwa Ibom State Government
\nHouse with armed men of the Department of State Security (DSS), I
\nraised alarm then and I did warn that Nigeria was being returned to
\n1984 when President Buhari ruled the country like a maximum ruler.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I said Nigerians irrespective of their political parties should
\nrise in condemnation of the President Buhari\u2019s government emerging
\ndictatorship, many of our friends in the APC opted to keep silent.
\nSome even hailed the Department of State Security (DSS) when the
\nservice invaded the Ekiti State House of Assembly and abducted a
\nmember of the House.<\/p>\n
\u201cLast week Wednesday, when the police sealed off the venue of the
\nPeoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention in Port-Harcourt
\nand blocked the road leading to the Old Presidential Lodge of the
\nRivers State Government House where I and other PDP leaders were
\naccommodated, our friends in the APC kept silent. Some even hailed the
\npolice!<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, as a Nigerian and ardent lover of democracy and rule of law,
\nI have elected to once again condemn the yesterday\u2019s armed policemen
\ninvasion and seal off of the private residence of Senator Rabiu
\nKwankwaso and I hope that this time around, our friends in the APC
\nwill realise that no one will be spared by the time this emerging
\ndictatorship reaches its peak.<\/p>\n
\u201cNigerians should realise that with the bullying of Kwankwaso, a two
\nterm governor, former minister of defence and serving senator, it is
\nnow very clear that the APC government will even be intolerant of
\nopposition within the party, not to talk of external opposition and
\nmen of good conscience should prevail on President Buhari to caution
