Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has urged the people of Edo<\/p>\n
State to give their votes to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
\ngovernorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu on Saturday, saying;
\n\u201cEdo people should not make the same mistake Nigerians made last year
\nby enthroning the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of
\nPresident Mohammadu Buhari.\u201d<\/p>\n
The governor, who also called on the people of Edo State to be extra
\nvigilant before, during and after the election, said; \u201cthe people
\nshould not just vote and go to sleep, they must make sure that their
\nvotes count and victory is ensured for Pastor Ize-Iyamu who is
\nunarguably the best among the contenders.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Assistant on
\nPublic Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose
\nsaid \u201cparty sentiment apart, Pastor Ize-Iyamu has campaigned through
\nthe nooks and crannies of Edo State to sell his visions and missions
\nto the people of the State and anyone who saw the Channels Television
\ndebate on Sunday will agree with me that Pastor Ize-Iyamu is better
\nequipped for the governance of Edo State.\u201d<\/p>\n
The governor declared that; \u201cIf you believe in me and you are a voter
\nin Edo State, give your vote to Pastor Ize-Iyamu, the man who has
\ndemonstrated the required capacity to lead Edo State to prosperity.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said; \u201cOpportunity to choose comes once in four years and the
\npeople of Edo State must grab this opportunity to change the fortune
\nof the State for the better.<\/p>\n
\u201cEdo people should also be assured that Nigerians are now looking for
\na more meaningful change that is better than the APC\u2019s one chance
\nchange and Pastor Ize-Iyamu represents that meaningful change in Edo
\nState.\u201d<\/p>\n
While calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
\nand the security agencies to maintain neutrality before, during and
\nafter the election, the governor described the Edo State election as a
\nlitmus test for the APC led federal government, urging all government
\nagencies involved in the election to put the interest of democracy
\nfirst.<\/p>\n
He said INEC must not repeat its story of inconclusiveness on the Edo
\nState election, adding that for the first time in the history of this
\nAPC led federal government; election must be free, fair and
\nconclusive.<\/p>\n
Governor Fayose said Edo people should be vigilant on the election day
\nand make sure that votes are counted and recorded in relevant forms at
\nthe polling units, adding that; \u201cthe people should know that elections
