Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has slammed the State Attorney
\nGeneral and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Henry Idahagbon for
\nallowing some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) caught with
\nfirearms to go free, saying this was a travesty of justice that would
\nembolden them to further perpetrate the heinous act.<\/p>\n
The Publicity Secretary, Mr Chris Nehikhare, said in a statement that “The
\nattention of the Edo State PDP has been drawn to the development whereby
\nfive thugs known to be regular escorts and personal driver of the member
\nrepresenting Orhionmwon\/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency, Hon. Patrick
\nAisowieren\u00a0 who were arrested by the Police for being in possession of
\nAK47 automatic assault rifles, ostensibly for wreaking havoc in the
\nrescheduled Edo State Governorship Election, have been charged to a
\nmagistrate’s court in Abudu for bail without mention of the illegal
\npossession of firearms.<\/p>\n
“This travesty of justice is the more offensive to us against the backdrop
\nthat our members have been relentlessly harassed, arrested and charged to
\ncourt on trumped up charges – and in some cases, murder.<\/p>\n
“It beats the imagination, therefore, that the Police would be creating a
\nleeway for potential felons to escape justice. We cannot but impute
\npolitical bias in this matter because the suspects are members of the
\nruling APC.<\/p>\n
“We consider this action of the police and State attorney general and
\ncommissioner for Justice, Barrister Henry Idahagbon, as being counter to
\nthe public interest because allowing these hoodlums to go free would
\nembolden them in the perpetration of their heinous crimes.<\/p>\n
“We hereby call on the police authorities and Barrister Henry Idahagbon to
