The Police Command in Katsina on Tuesday said it had arrested a
\n60-year-old househelp of Hajiya Turai Yar\u2019adua, the wife of the late
\nPresident Umaru Musa Yar\u2019adua over missing goods worth N91 million.<\/p>\n
Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, the police Commissioner in the state, disclosed
\nthis to newsmen on Tuesday in Katsina.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Police have arrested Alhaji Yusuf Sarkin-gida after a formal
\ncomplaint by Hajiya Turai Yar\u2019adua to the Police two weeks ago.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe suspect is the custodians of all the keys and property of Hajiya
\nTurai Yar\u2019adua for the past forty years.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are 37 boxes in the custody of the suspect, but only 27 boxes are
\nin the store. \u201cThe several items in the 27 boxes are completely missing
\nand the suspect has failed to give full explanation on the goods and items
\nin the boxes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Commissioner said the suspect had been serving the Late Umar
\nYar\u2019adua\u2019s family for the past 40 years even before her husband became the
\ngovernor and later the President of Nigeria.<\/p>\n
Abdullahi said the suspect was in Police custody, where he was assisting
\nthem to conduct intensive investigation on the missing items.<\/p>\n
When contacted, the spokesperson of Sarkin-gida\u2019s family, Alhaji Mohammed
\nYusuf, said their father was innocent of the charge lavelled against him.<\/p>\n
He said the arrest and detention of their father before the Eld-el-Kabir
\ncelebration had thrown the family into confusion.<\/p>\n
He appealed to Human Rights Organisations to come to the rescue of their
