Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has said that the Independent
\nNational Electoral Commission (INEC) under the present All Progressives
\nCongress (APC) led federal government has demonstrated to Nigerians that
\ntheir votes will never be allowed to count any longer, adding that; \u201cINEC
\nhas become an extension of the APC and Aso Rock Presidential Villa.\u201d<\/p>\n

Governor Fayose, who was answering questions on an Orange FM, Akure
\nprogramme on Tuesday<\/span><\/span>, lamented that \u201cdemocracy in Nigeria has suffered a
\nserious setback\u201d, but added that \u201cIf the cabal in the APC led federal
\ngovernment believed that they have defeated the People\u2019s Democratic Party
\n(PDP) through their manipulation of the electoral process, they should be
\nreminded that they can never defeat the people.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said; \u201cThis is not democracy. INEC said they did not recognise the
\nIbadan primary election that produced Jimoh Ibrahim, now the same INEC
\nsays he is the candidate.\u00a0 What is it that has changed?<\/p>\n

“Isn’t it now safe to say that INEC was actually bribed $1m\u00a0 to allow
\nJimoh Ibrahim to play the spoiler role that he is playing?<\/p>\n

\u201cIsn\u2019t this development a vindication of my position that other political
\nparties and stakeholders are now contesting election against INEC?”<\/p>\n

The governor however urged the\u00a0 people not to lose hope despite what he
\ncalled the hanky panky in the judiciary, saying; “You cannot hide behind a
\nfinger, this is a phase that will pass, 24 hours is a long time in
\npolitics.”<\/p>\n

The governor said INEC was now totally under Mrs Amina Zakari, whom he
\nsaid now acts as the managing director of what he called APC-INEC<\/p>\n

Speaking on the $29.9 billion loan proposed by the federal government,
\nGovernor Fayose said; \u201cThat $29.9 billion loan will ruin Nigeria
\npermanently.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said; \u201cThis government met $28.4 billion in our Foreign Reserve and has
\ndepleted it to $24 billion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe same government that has reduced our foreign reserve to $24 billion
\nis now going to borrow $29.9 billion when the country is already indebted
\nto the tune of $11 billion and it is servicing debt with about 30 percent
\nof its monthly income.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf with $11 billion debt, 30 percent of the federal government income is
\nbeing used to service debt, how much will be used to service debt when
\nanother $29.9 billion debt is added? How can Nigeria survive when more
\nthan 75 percent of its income is being used to service debt?\u201d<\/p>\n

While reiterating his support for Mr Eyitayo Jegede as the PDP candidate
\nin Ondo State, Governor Fayose said; ” I am a member of PDP,\u00a0 Olusola Oke
\nis a friend and brother and someone I respect, it will amount to
\nanti-Party for me to come here and campaign for a member of another
\nparty.”<\/p>\n

On the federal government’s anti corruption war, Governor Fayose described
\nthe EFCC as an irresponsible organization, saying; “EFCC is not a
\nresponsible organisation,\u00a0 that’s why they try people on the pages of
\nnewspapers.”<\/p>\n
