President Muhammadu Buhari says he will keep faith with the oath of office<\/p>\n
he swore, and treat all Nigerians equitably.<\/p>\n
Receiving the Executive Committee Members of the Christian Association of
\nNigeria (CAN) from 19 Northern States and Abuja, at State House, Thursday,
\nthe President equally pledged to restore peace to all parts of the
\ncountry, noting:<\/p>\n
\u201cRestoring peace is top priority.\u00a0 We will enable the law enforcement
\nagencies to combat all forms of violent crimes, and ensure that our people
\nlive in peace.\u201d<\/p>\n
President Buhari urged the clerics to promote religious harmony, by
\n\u201cenhancing understanding among different faiths.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also disclosed that the government would maintain the priority it has
\nplaced on agriculture and mines and steel development, \u201cto kick-start the
\neconomy.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Chairman of CAN in the 19 Northern States and Abuja, Rev. Yakubu Pam,
\nsaid it was not a mistake that God chose President Buhari to lead the
\ncountry at these challenging times.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are ready to support your administration to deliver good governance.
\nYou have good intentions for Nigeria, judging from the programmes that
\nhave been outlined,\u201d Rev. Pam said.<\/p>\n
He also highlighted ethno-religious challenges in the country, freedom of
\nworship,\u00a0 and herdsmen\/farmers\u2019 clashes in their discussion with the
\nPresident.<\/p>\n
The CAN leader commended the Buhari administration for the blow dealt Boko
\nHaram insurgents, \u201cleading to comparative peace in the North-east,\u201d the
\nreturn of 21 abducted schoolgirls from Chibok, and the anti-corruption
