{"id":54294,"date":"2016-11-06T19:04:27","date_gmt":"2016-11-06T18:04:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=54294"},"modified":"2016-11-06T19:04:27","modified_gmt":"2016-11-06T18:04:27","slug":"inec-calls-investigations-rivers-fake-result-sheets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/inec-calls-investigations-rivers-fake-result-sheets\/","title":{"rendered":"INEC Calls For Investigations Into Rivers Fake Result Sheets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Independent National Electoral Commission has called for thorough<br \/>\ninvestigation into the production of fake result sheets in Port Harcourt,<br \/>\nRivers State, ahead of <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_158788460\"><span class=\"aQJ\">December 10<\/span><\/span> legislative rerun elections in the<br \/>\nstate.<\/p>\n<p>The Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi, who made<br \/>\nthe call <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_158788461\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Sunday<\/span><\/span>, urged the security agencies handling the matter to<br \/>\nensure that suspects already arrested in connection with the matter and<br \/>\ntheir sponsors were prosecuted.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cThe commission has heard the news about the arrest of nine<br \/>\npeople with fake result sheets in Port Harcourt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cINEC wants to appeal to security agencies that the culprits should not<br \/>\njust be arrested, they and their sponsors should be prosecuted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was reported that the police in Rivers had arrested a syndicate<br \/>\ninvolved in the printing of fake result sheets purportedly to be used in<br \/>\nthe rescheduled rerun elections in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The report added that the director and staff members of the printing<br \/>\npress, Help-Mate Consult, located in Port Harcourt allegedly involved in<br \/>\nthe printing of the fake result sheets were arrested by the police.<\/p>\n<p>Oyekanmi said that INEC had no relationship with the printing press and<br \/>\nits arrested director on the production of the fake results sheet.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cINEC does not have any relationship with the said company or any<br \/>\nother one in Port Harcourt on the production of results sheets for the<br \/>\nelection.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oyekanmi also denied the allegation that the production of the fake<br \/>\nelection result sheets was with the connivance with INEC and a political<br \/>\nparty to rig the <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_158788462\"><span class=\"aQJ\">December 10<\/span><\/span> election.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cINEC will never connive with any political party to do such a<br \/>\nthing to destroy the credibility of our elections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur system is too strict and complex for anybody to successfully to do<br \/>\nsuch a thing.
