The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State says the reluctance and<\/p>\n
dismal silence over several high profile allegations of financial
\nrecklessness, diversion of public funds for private use while he served as
\nRivers State Governor and attempts to bribe some justices of the Supreme
\nCourt to thwart the course of justice against the Minister of
\nTransportation, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, is an eloquent testimony that the
\nAll Progressives Congress, APC-led federal government is not sincere in
\nits anti-corruption policy or at best, treacherous in its pursuit.<\/p>\n
A statement by the State PDP Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah said if the APC
\nleadership were sincere and serious to fight corruption in the country,
\npeople like Rotimi Amaechi would not be part of the government.<\/p>\n
But rather than investigate the former Rivers State governor over the
\nmyriad of criminal allegations against him, including the recent issue of
\nattempting to dissuade Supreme Court Justices to compromise justice in the
\nRivers State Governorship election appeal, these high level cases have
\nbeen swept under the carpet.<\/p>\n
still, the APC has turned round to allege that the shocking revelations by
\nthe two Supreme Court justices, of how Amaechi unsuccessfully tried to
\ninfluence their judgment in the Governorship election appeal, were mere
\nattempts to rope Amaechi in at the behest\u00a0 of Governor Nyesom Wike and
\nsome other chieftains of the PDP.<\/p>\n
From the way and manner the APC has cautioned to carry on with the
\nanti-corruption fight, the persons involved and their political
\naffiliations, defiance to Court Orders and acts of lawlessness applied,
\nthere is no gainsaying the fact that the APC is reprobate.<\/p>\n
Being selective in the prosecution of the accused persons and the total
\nexclusion of political office holders under the APC from the searchlight
\nof the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and other security
\nagencies clearly exposes the federal government\u2019s double standard in the
\nentire affair.<\/p>\n
Bro Obuah insists the allegations against Rotimi Amaechi by the two
\nhonourable Justices of the Supreme Court are weighty enough to make
\nAmaechi step down as a member of President Buhari\u2019s cabinet while he is
\nsubjected to unhindered investigations.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo amount of sponsored media hype will be enough to provide shield for
\nAmaechi. Rather than postpone the evil day, Amaechi should better submit
\nhimself for investigation because the records will remain even after the
\nBuhari regime is over,\u201d the State PDP boss declared.<\/p>\n
Bro Obuah appealed to the innocent PDP chieftains, notably Gov Nyesom
\nWike, the Senate minority leader, and immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom
\nState, Senator Godswill Akpabio and the incumbent governors of Akwa Ibom,
\nCross River and Delta States not to be distracted by the antics of the APC
\nand these Amaechi\u2019s prot\u00e9g\u00e9s, stressing that as usual, time shall
