Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose on Tuesday, paid a surprise visit<\/p>\n
to the detained former Minister of Aviation and the Director\u00a0 of the
\ndefunct Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council, Chief
\nFemi Fani-Kayode at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
\noffice in Abuja.<\/p>\n
Fayose, who spoke with journalists after the visit, condemned the continued
\ndetention of Fani-Kayode despite the fact that he had earlier been granted
\nbail by the court,saying that the action of the EFCC was vendetta<\/p>\n
Governor Fayose however disclosed that Fani-Kayode was in the good spirit
\nwhen he met him but declared that he\u00a0 could not attest to “how the state of
\nhis accommodation is” as they only met inside an office within the EFCC .<\/p>\n
He called on the Federal Government and the EFCC to stop playing god and
\nallow the former minister to enjoy the bail earlier granted to him by the
\ncourt.<\/p>\n
According to Fayose, “the continued detention of the former minister was to
\ndemoralize him but unfortunately, the man was in high spirit when I met him<\/p>\n
“He is not worried, after all, a man must be brave. We shared prayers
\ntogether that this persecution will come to pass and it will surely come to
\npass”.<\/p>\n
Speaking On his mission to the Commission, said “I am here to visit and
\nidentify my friend, Chief Fani-kayode. I came into Abuja yesterday and I am
\nbeing my brother’s keeper, and I felt that within the 24 hours that I will
\nspend in Abuja I have to visit him<\/p>\n
“I met him in an office. They brought him in to an office to see me. He is
\nin good spirit. But when you said the\u00a0 state he was when I met him,\u00a0 there
\nare two different issues. If you say state of mind, he is in good spirit.
\nBut I don’t have access\u00a0 to where he sleeps and the condition in which he
\nis kept but speaking with, he is in good spirit.<\/p>\n
The governor hinted that former Minister would be charged to court on
\nNovember 10.<\/p>\n
He said\u00a0 “it is obvious that the commission has made up their mind on
\ncharge him on the November 10. And it shows that they have made up their
\nmind even before I visited him. He has been granted bail before and I would
\nhave expected them to allow him to go and come back since he didn’t run
\naway. So I just believe that this over zealousness will cease and get
\nbetter.”<\/p>\n
Speaking on his\u00a0 concerns over recent spates of high profile visits to the
\nanti-graft facility he said\u00a0 ” these people are only accused. an accused
\nperson are at liberty to be visited even people convicted are to be
\nvisited. They are human beings it is their right to be visited.<\/p>\n
“Are you saying that people should be locked away without access to family
\nand friends that would be abuse to human rights. There is a difference
\nbetween being accused and found guilty. After from that even if you are
