Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has urged the Senate<\/p>\n
President, Senator Bukola Saraki not to join the federal government in
\nruining Nigeria by supporting President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s request for
\nexternal loan of $29.96 billion.<\/p>\n
The governor called on the Senate President to pitch his tent with
\nNigerians and not because of his own personal interests join Buhari to
\ndestroy Nigeria, saying; \u201cSenator Saraki must know that no matter how
\nmuch he tries to warm himself into the hearts of the Aso Villa Cabal,
\nthey can never love him and accept him into their fold.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a release issued by his Special Assistant on Public Communications
\nand New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose asked; \u201cwhat is the
\neconomic sense in taking over N12 trillion loan so as to be able to
\nspend more money during economic recession? How can a nation be
\nproposing to spend more money when its income has reduced
\nconsiderably?<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, it is being argued that nations in recession must spend to get
\nout of recession, but in the case of Nigeria, how do we pay back when
\nas at today, 30 percent of our income is being used to service debt?
\nWhat will happen to our economy when over 60 percent of our income is
\nbeing used to service debt?\u201d<\/p>\n
He said the Senate must be mindful of the reality that \u201cmany States in
\nNigeria are unable to pay workers salary now because of the huge debt
\nleft behind by past governments.\u201d<\/p>\n
The statement read; \u201cWhen the Senate unanimously threw out President
\nMuhammadu Buhari\u2019s request for external loan of $29.96 billion, many
\nNigerian heaved a sigh of relief and hailed the Senate.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, unfolding events in the last few days suggest a dangerous
\nalliance between the presidency and the Senate President, Bukola
\nSaraki to ensure the approval of the $29.96 billion loan at all cost.<\/p>\n
Feelers getting to the public suggest that the ongoing Code of Conduct
\nTribunal (CCT) trial of Senator Bukola Saraki is being used as
\nblackmail to get him to back the $29.96 billion loan.<\/p>\n
\u201cSenator Saraki should be mindful that the $29.9 billion loan will do
\nincalculable damage to the country\u2019s ailing economy because of the
\namount presently being used by the federal government to service loan
\nmonthly.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, Senate Saraki must not allow himself to be seen as using
\nthe future of Nigeria as negotiation for his own interests.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe must know that no matter what he does to the Aso Villa Cabal to
\nachieve their aims, it won\u2019t change their minds concerning his
\ntravails.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe should be reminded that despite that he assisted the Aso Villa
\nCabal to pass the controversial 2016 budget and cleared all the
\nministerial nominees, they never stopped plotting to bring him down.
\n\u201cThis time around therefore, the Senate President should be mindful
\nof riding on the back of this political tiger that is roaring to
\nconsume everyone as he can only get momentary reprieve. He will
\neventually end in the stomach of the tiger!<\/p>\n
\u201cSenator Saraki should remember that only the cowards die many times
\nbefore their death. Even if he gives his life as ransom for President
\nBuhari, that won\u2019t stop his persecution.<\/p>\n
\u201cInstead of collaborating with the Aso Villa Cabal to plunge the
\npresent and future generations of Nigerians into the bondage of debt,
\nSenator Saraki should pitch his tent with Nigerians, who are against
\nthe $29.96 billion loan and write his name in gold, like Senator Ken
