Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described the controversial<\/p>\n
Federal High Court, Abuja judge, Okon Abang as a disgrace to the
\njudiciary, calling on the National Judicial Council (NJC) to \u201csave the
\njudiciary from this disgrace called Okon Abang\u00a0 by showing him the way out
\nof the bench.\u201d<\/p>\n
Governor Fayose, in his reaction to the Appeal Court judgment, which
\nnullified Abang\u2019s ruling of the October 14, 2016 and declared it as a
\nfraud, said; \u201cit is obvious that Justice Abang is representing the dirty
\ninterests of some cabals, who are protecting him despite the incalculable
\ndamages he has done to the judiciary.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by the governor\u2019s Special
\nAssistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, he said;
\n\u201cIn the face of these indictments by the appellate court, NJC must wade in
\nand save the judiciary from Abang.<\/p>\n
He said a judge who gives fraudulent judgments is even more dangerous than
\narmed robbers, adding that; \u201cThose running after judges for alleged
\ncorruption and excluding a judge like Abang may not be far from being the
\nbeneficiaries of his (Abang) fraudulent judgments.\u201d<\/p>\n
The governor said \u201ca judge like Abang is a cankerworm that can destroy the
\ncountry if not removed totally before he does further damage to the
\npolity.\u201d<\/p>\n
Governor Fayose said; \u201cToday again, three justices of the appeal court
\ndescended on Justice Abang, describing his judgments imposing Jimoh
\nIbrahim as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in
\nOndo State and the one affirming Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and the PDP
\nNational Chairman as fraudulent.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt should be recalled that in June, a five-member panel of the court of
\nappeal led by Justice Morenike Ogunwumiju said Abang \u201craped democracy\u201d
\nwhen he annulled the election Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu and
\nordered INEC to issue a certificate of return to Mr. Samson Ogah without
\nevidence of forgery against Dr. Ikpeazu. The court went on to say that
\nAbang embarked on a wild goose chase and that he spoke from both sides of
\nhis mouth.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese are clear indictments on Justice Abang and in a civilised society;
\nhe ought to have resigned without the prompting of anyone. Or how can a
\njudge that has been adjudged severally as giving fraudulent judgments and
\nacting like Father Christmas still sit in judgment over cases involving
\nNigerians?<\/p>\n
\u201cThe judiciary, being the last hope of the common man must therefore be
\npurged of elements like Abang and NJC must do the needful by sacking him
