Former Chairman\u00a0 of the Board of\u00a0 Trustees, BoT, of the Peoples Democratic
\nParty, PDP, Chief Tony Anenih, has retired from partisan politics, saying
\nhe has no point to prove any longer.<\/p>\n
Anenih, 83, who announced his retirement from active politics, yesterday,
\nat the presentation of his autobiography: \u201cMy Life and Nigerian
\nPolitics,\u2019\u2019 also stressed the need for Nigerians, irrespective of
\npolitical leanings, to support President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s efforts to
\npull the country out of recession.<\/p>\n
His words: \u201cI am persuaded that I have no more ambition or any point to
\nprove in politics. I am, therefore, glad to declare that, from today, I
\nshall be withdrawing from active partisan politics. I shall, however,
\ncontinue to avail the country of my experience, give suggestions and offer
\nadvice, as a statesman.\u201d The former Works Minister under President
\nOlusegun Obasanjo said the prevailing wind of economic recession in
\nNigeria required all hands on deck and collaborative efforts to surmount
\nit.<\/p>\n
\u201cI, therefore, urge Nigerians to persevere and hope for better tomorrow<\/span><\/span>. \nrescind the decision because the octogenarian\u2019s experience in security and
\npolitics would be wasted if he quit politics at this time.<\/p>\n

\nalways been to be an agent of positive development, unity and brotherhood
