Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has lamented the outcome of
\nthe Ondo State Governorship election, saying the Independent National
\nElectoral Commission (INEC) connived with the All Progressives
\nCongress (APC) and its collaborators in the Peoples Democratic Party
\n(PDP) to rig the election before it was conducted.<\/p>\n
He said; \u201cMuch as I would have loved to congratulate the winner, Mr
\nRotimi Akeredolu (SAN), because in every contest, there must be a
\nwinner and a loser, the role of INEC in awarding victory to him in the
\nelection left much to be desired.\u201d<\/p>\n
The governor, who reacted to the outcome of the election in a
\nstatement issued by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and
\nNew Media, Lere Olayina, said INEC gave the APC victory in the
\nelection by deliberately replacing the name of Mr Eyitayo Jegede, the
\nPDP candidate, thereby creating legal logjam that lasted till three
\ndays to the election.<\/p>\n
He said that the PDP went to the election with its hands tied to the
\nback because of the uncharitable actions of INEC, which has no doubt
\nbecome an arm of the APC.<\/p>\n
He maintained that apart from the APC, political parties in Nigeria
\nare now contesting elections against INEC.<\/p>\n
Governor Fayose lamented that \u201cto sustain the \u2018see and buy\u2019 strategy
\nand legalise money politics, the APC-led federal government
\ndeliberately created poverty in the country so as to continue to
\nenslave the minds of Nigerians with peanuts to get their votes on
\nelection day, saying; \u201cDibo ko sebe (vote and collect money to cook
\nsoup) was the slang used by the APC in the Ondo State election and
\nthat only worked because the APC federal government have put Nigerians
\nin abject poverty.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said; \u201cEven though INEC allowed what appeared like a free and fair
\natmosphere on the election day, the election had been won and lost
\nbefore it was held.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor instance, INEC that witnessed the PDP primary election that
\nproduced Mr Eyitayo Jegede succumbed to pressure from the APC cabal to
\nreplace him with Jimoh Ibrahim, who did not take part in any primary
\nelection known to the Electoral Act.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat could anyone have done under 72 hours in an election that was
\nheavily monetised by the APC?<\/p>\n
\u201cThe whole process was a deliberate sabotage by INEC, which has
\ntotally bastardised the electoral process.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously, all these shenanigans are geared towards turning Nigeria
\nto a one part state by weakening all opposition parties ahead of the
\n2019 general elections but I can assure Nigerians that this will not
