Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described the Department<\/p>\n
of State Services (DSS) claim that it uncovered plot by the Rivers
\nState Governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike to disrupt governance in strategic
\nfederal government agencies as \u201cbarefaced attempt by the federal
\ngovernment to divert the attention of Nigerians and the international
\ncommunity from its involvement in the violence unleashed on the people
\nof Rivers State during the December 10 rerun elections.\u201d<\/p>\n
The governor said it was unfortunate that the DSS could no longer hide
\nits partisanship, adding that; \u201caccusing a serving governor of
\nplotting to disrupt governance in Abuja is the height of irresponsible
\ndisplay of partisanship by a security agency that should serve
\nNigerians and not the APC.<\/p>\n
Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and
\nNew Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said no amount of
\nintimidation, blackmail and harassment by the DSS and other federal
\ngovernment security agencies will make Nigerians to surrender the
\ncountry to dictatorship.<\/p>\n
The governor challenged the DSS to tell Nigerians those who sponsored
\nthe Tuesday, protest in Abuja by a group that called itself National
\nSupport Groups for Good Governance, (NASUGG), saying; \u201cWhen protesters
\nwent round major streets in Abuja on Tuesday, protesting against
\nGovernor Wike, where was the DSS then?<\/p>\n
\u201cAssuming but not even conceding that anyone was planning to protest
\nin support of Governor Wike, what is wrong with that? Was the DSS on
\nsabbatical on Tuesday, when protest was held in the same Abuja against
\nGovernor Wike?<\/p>\n
\u201cIs the DSS now telling Nigerians that only supporters of the All
\nProgressives Congress (APC) can protest and only protests against the
\nPeoples Democratic Party (PDP) are sanctioned?\u201d<\/p>\n
Speaking further, Governor Fayose said; \u201cSecurity agencies were
\naccused of playing ignoble roles in the Rivers State rerun elections.
\nCan the same security agencies that was accused of ballot box
\nsnatching and assisting the APC to unleash terror on the people of
\nRivers State carry out any credible probe?<\/p>\n
\u201cThe only probe that will be credible and acceptable concerning the
\nRivers State rerun election is the one in which the international
\ncommunity, civil society organisations and observers who were on the
\nfield during the election take part not this kangaroo probe being
\nspearheaded by the police just to work to a pre-determined
