Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared no level of
\nintimidation or blackmail from Federal Agencies\u00a0 will scare him into
\nselling out the state to external\u00a0 predators.<\/p>\n
The governor urged Rivers people not to panic because\u00a0 nobody can take the
\nstate by force despite the sustained blackmail by the Police and the
\nDepartment of State Services\u00a0 ( DSS).<\/p>\n
Speaking\u00a0 when he granted audience to the Rivers State Elders Council of
\nMinisters (RISECOM), Governor Wike said: “This is a turbulent
\nperiod.However, we will overcome. They can cow other governors, but not
\nme.<\/p>\n
“None of them gave me the mandate. The people of Rivers State gave me this
\nmandate and I will\u00a0 never sell the interest of this state for whatever
\nreason.\u00a0 I will not bring out the money of Rivers State\u00a0 to sponsor other
\npeople outside the state. ”<\/p>\n
He told the Christian leaders that security agencies\u00a0 are frustrating\u00a0 the
\nsecurity\u00a0 architecture\u00a0 of the state to further their devilish\u00a0 plot to
\ndeclare\u00a0 a state of emergency and thereafter\u00a0 bring a lackey to loot the
\nstate.<\/p>\n
He denied sponsoring anyone to protest in Abuja against the Federal
\nGovernment, pointing out that those who planned to protest in his favour
\nmust have taken\u00a0 a cue from those who\u00a0 protested against\u00a0 him in Abuja.<\/p>\n
“If they like, let them bring all manner of accusations daily, it will not
\ncow me. Three days ago, they sponsored protests against\u00a0 me in Abuja with
\nthe Police\u00a0 leading the protesters.<\/p>\n
“It is so unfortunate how they can descend so low . The DSS\u00a0 are unhappy
\nbecause\u00a0 I stopped\u00a0 them from kidnapping\u00a0 a judge. Till today, they are
\nyet to invite that particular judge “.<\/p>\n
The governor said: “I never sponsored anyone to protest. Assuming, people
\nwant to protest, are we not in a democracy?<\/p>\n
“If I am the one who is the sponsor of the planned protest in my favour,
\nwho sponsored\u00a0 the protests against me. It means they are the people who
\nsponsored\u00a0 the protests”.<\/p>\n
He assured the Christian leaders\u00a0 that\u00a0 he remains\u00a0 committed to the
\ndevelopment of the state and the welfare of her people.<\/p>\n
In his remarks , Leader of RISECOM, Archbishop\u00a0 of Niger Delta Province,
\nMost Rev Ignatius Kattey commended the governor\u00a0 for\u00a0 his\u00a0 developmental
\nstrides\u00a0 in the state.<\/p>\n
Also speaking, Methodist Archbishop of Port Harcourt, Most Rev Agwu urged
