Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has said that what Nigerians
\nare now desirous of hearing from the All Progressives Congress (APC)
\nled federal government is the defeat of hunger and untold hardship
\nravaging the country and not recycled stories of defeat of Boko Haram
\ninsurgents, which is as usual, aimed at diverting the attention of
\nNigerians from the fact that there is ravaging hunger at this time of
\nthe year.<\/p>\n
The governor said it has become predictable that whenever Nigerians
\ncry of the pains and sufferings they are going through, the federal
\ngovernment will come with stories like; \u201c20 Chibok girls found,\u201d \u201c$1
\nbillion found in Mr A, B or C bedroom,\u201d \u201cBoko Haram technically
\ndefeated,\u201d \u201cWe have captured Sambisa forest,\u201d etc just to divert
\nattention.<\/p>\n
In a release issued in Ado Ekiti on Monday and signed by his Special
\nAssistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka,
\nGovernor Fayose said; \u201cIt is painful that Nigeria under President
\nMohammadu Buhari has become directionless either due to the
\ncluelessness of the president or his old age that has foisted a
\npurposeless leadership on the country.<\/p>\n
He said; \u201cThis year\u2019s Christmas is the worse in the history of
\nNigeria. People cannot afford to celebrate and enjoy themselves due to
\nthe hardship caused by the APC government. To make matters worse, the
\nCentral Bank of Nigeria (CBN) also created artificial scarcity of
\ncash, such that people could not access their hard earned money in the
\nbanks as most banks in the country do not have cash to pay their
\ncustomers.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cLike I have maintained, the main issue confronting Nigerians now is
\nhunger and hunger does not speak the language of political propaganda
\nthat is being used by the APC led federal government. It is therefore
\nno longer about diversionary news, it is about preventing Nigerians
\nfrom dying of hunger,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The governor said \u201cthe only solution to the myriad of problems facing
\nthe country is for those holding power in Abuja to face the sad
\nreality that it was the hard stance of the president, his statements
\nagainst Nigeria and its people both at home and abroad coupled with
\nhis demonstration of hatred against some sections of the country and
\ndesperation to crush his perceived enemies that led us to where we are
\ntoday.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was the president that went to foreign countries to de-market
\nNigeria by calling all Nigerians thieves and dishonest people. He was
\nthe one who created atmosphere of economic and political instability
\nin the country by his acts of nepotism and vindictiveness?<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, for the country to move forward, the President must change
\nhis attitude from a vindictive military dictator to a civilian
\npresident of all Nigerians.\u201d<\/p>\n
He lamented that those cabal in the presidency have hijacked the
\npresident and his government, running the country aground, saying;
\n\u201cThings were never like this at any time in the history of Nigeria
\napart from 1984.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said; \u201cThey are not running the economy of Nigeria by the open
\nparticipation of Nigerians but by some cabal, who see themselves as
\nsuperior to others. By their failure to involve those who know more
\nthan them, they have succeeded in creating unemployment instead of
\nthree million jobs that they promised Nigerians per year. They have
\ntaken Nigeria back to the Stone Age and it will take several years for
\nthe country to recover, if it will ever recover.\u201d<\/p>\n
Governor Fayose, who appealed to Nigerians not to keep silent in 2017,
\nsaid; \u201cWith every means of livelihood of the common people taken away
\nfrom them, free; fair and credible elections becoming a mirage,
\nNigerians must begin to speak out now before the country is completely
