{"id":55386,"date":"2017-01-11T22:20:32","date_gmt":"2017-01-11T21:20:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=55386"},"modified":"2017-01-11T22:20:33","modified_gmt":"2017-01-11T21:20:33","slug":"buhari-vows-honor-agreements-china","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/buhari-vows-honor-agreements-china\/","title":{"rendered":"Buhari Vows To Honor All Agreements With China"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Muhammadu Buhari <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1606671171\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Wednesday<\/span><\/span> in Abuja pledged that Nigeria will<br \/>\nkeep faith with all agreements signed with the People\u2019s Republic of China.<\/p>\n<p>The President, who received the Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi, at the<br \/>\nState House, said his administration is fully committed to the<br \/>\ninfrastructural development of the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2018This administration is very serious about infrastructural development.<br \/>\nWe want rail, road, power, skill acquisition for our people. We ought to<br \/>\nhave developed beyond this point, but we neglected infrastructure when we<br \/>\nhad the resources.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2018Now, we have to collaborate with you, and we will keep our side of the<br \/>\nbargain in all the agreements we have signed,\u201d President Buhari said.<br \/>\nThe Nigerian President had visited China in April, last year, as guest of<br \/>\nPresident Xi Jinping, and the two countries signed memoranda of<br \/>\nunderstanding on projects, running into billions of dollars.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the projects due for immediate implementation include railways,<br \/>\nthe Abuja-Keffi Expressway, among others, while the sum of 100 million<br \/>\nyuan would be released for agriculture demonstration centers.<\/p>\n<p>In his remarks, the Chinese Foreign Minister described President Buhari&#8217;s<br \/>\nvisit to China last year as &#8220;very successful,&#8221; adding that President Xi<br \/>\nJinping looked forward to greater collaboration between the two countries.<br \/>\nWang Yi lauded Nigeria for recognizing the &#8220;one China policy,&#8221; saying<br \/>\nPresident Buhari, who fought a civil war to keep Nigeria one, knows the<br \/>\nvalue of unity.<\/p>\n<p>He also commended efforts being made by the President to diversify the<br \/>\nNigerian economy, stressing that China will be a reliable partner in the<br \/>\nongoing efforts to restructure the economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2018We will cooperate with you to achieve food self-sufficiency.
