A pro-democracy coalition says only an immediate and independent
\ninvestigation of the bombed Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in
\nRann, Borno State could assure the international community of Nigeria’s
\nsincere commitment to humanitarian causes.<\/p>\n
Coalition in Defence of Nigerian Democracy and Constitution (CDNDC)
\nhowever tasks\u00a0 President Muhammadu Buhari to demonstrate statesmanship by
\nvisiting the affected camp and community without delay.<\/p>\n
The group in a statement by its Co-convener, Ariyo-Dare Atoye warns on the
\nglobal implications of bypassing investigation into the tragedy which has
\nunfortunately claimed the lives of some foreign aide workers.<\/p>\n
“We are calling for an immediate investigation into this tragedy in line
\nwith international standard, and it should be independent in nature to
\nsecure the confidence of our foreign partners.<\/p>\n
“Our foreign partners operating in the IDP camps across the country must
\nbe assured that we are serious about protecting human lives and ensuring
\njustice to the people.<\/p>\n
“The President must equally demonstrates statesmanship by visiting the
\naffected camp to empathize with the IDPs and also boost the morale of some
\ninjured person in the hospitals.<\/p>\n
“Nigerians will not accept any form of excuse justifying why the President
\ncould not go to IDP camps in the Northeast to empathize with Nigerians.
\nNot acceptable.<\/p>\n
“The President must leave his comfort zone to stand for his people; if he
\ncould go to The Gambia to intervene in an external matter, we want to see
\nhim visiting Borno to rally the people against Boko Haram Terrorists
\n(BHT).”<\/p>\n
“We equally urge our Military to understand that asymmetric warfare
\nagainst BHT requires more of ground strategy and assault; it should limit
\nthe use of aerial bombardment which is capable of wrecking havoc on
\ninnocent Nigerians.<\/p>\n
“We sympathize with the families of the dead and pray that God will stand
\nin the gap for them and heal the injured. It is very painful.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
