U.S. President Donald Trump has pledged to be the president of all
\nAmericans irrespective of their colour or status.<\/p>\n
Trump, who made the pledge in his inaugural speech as the 45th President
\nof U.S., declared that \u201cit is a new era for America.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhether we are black, red or white, we all bleed the blood of the same
\npatriots\u201d, Trump added.<\/p>\n
Trump also said that he would make the American people the focus of his
\npresidency.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are not taking power from one president to the other or from one party
\nto the other but we are taking power from Washington to you, the people\u201d,
\nTrump said.<\/p>\n
\u201cJanuary 20, 2017 will go into history as a day that the people become the
\npresident of this country again.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will fight for you with every blood in my body and I will never ever
\nlet you down.<\/p>\n
\u201cAmerica will start winning again, winning like never before\u201d, the
\npresident said.<\/p>\n
He promised to concentrate on the security of the American border and the
\nsecurity of the country, lamenting that the country spent trillions of
\ndollars to secure other countries instead of America.<\/p>\n
He also promised to make affordable education, healthcare and housing the
\nhallmark of his administration.<\/p>\n
In a country deeply divided by Trump\u2019s and Hillary Clinton\u2019s unusual
\ncampaign, Trump called for the unity of all Americans.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen America is united, we can do the impossible\u201d, he said.
\nThe president also said that the era of vain promises was over.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is no longer the era of talk, but now it is the era of action.\u201d
\nHe pledged to destroy terrorists wherever they are all over the world,
\nsaying that the world will be safe and secure under his presidency.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will seek peace and prosperity of other nations but we will put the
\ninterest and security of America first.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cLet nobody tell you that it can never be done because no challenge is too
\nbig that can confront the determination spirit of the America.\u201d
\nThe president promised to bring back the prosperity of America saying, his
\nslogan will be \u201cBuy America, hire America\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cAmerica will start winning again, winning like never before.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will bring back our jobs, bring back our wealth and we will bring back
\nour dreams.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cTogether, we will make America great again, we will make America strong
\nagain, and we will make America better again\u201d.<\/p>\n
Trump paid glowing tributes to former president Barack Obama and his wife
\nfor their roles in ensuring peaceful and orderly transition.<\/p>\n
Former Presidents Jimmy Carter, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton attended
\nthe inauguration with their wives, including Hillary Clinton, who was
\nTrump\u2019s fiercest challenger in the Nov. 8 presidential election.<\/p>\n

Former president of The Gambia, Yahya Jammeh has finally surrendered and
\nasked for a shift in deadline of mid-day to 4pm to vacate office as ECOWAS
\nsoldiers close in on him.<\/p>\n
Jammeh made the request when he met the leaders of Guinea and Mauritania
\nin the capital, Banjul, in a last-ditch diplomatic effort to get him to
\ncede power.<\/p>\n
A regional military force that crossed the border in support of his
\ndemocratically elected successor, Adama Barrow, was awaiting orders on
\nFriday.<\/p>\n
Marcel Alain de Souza, chair of the west African union ECOWAS, said troops
\nwould force Jammeh out if he refused to leave the country.<\/p>\n
The West African troops entered the Gambia on Thursday night, hours after
\nBarrow was forced to hold his inauguration as president in Dakar, the
\ncapital of Senegal.<\/p>\n
De Souza said the west African force, which includes tanks, has so far met
\nno resistance. Banjul, the capital, was deserted on Friday.<\/p>\n
Dozens of vultures spread their wings on the large ground outside State
\nHouse, and a lone cyclist, perhaps one of the few remaining tourists in
\nthe country, made the most of the empty roads.<\/p>\n
The country\u2019s chief of defence staff, Ousman Badjie, was seen speeding in
\nthe direction of Banjul.<\/p>\n
He has switched allegiance several times over the past month, and was
\ncelebrating with Barrow supporters in the streets last night.<\/p>\n
It is unclear what side he and the military would take in the event of an
\nECOWAS attack on the State House, though most sources believed he was no
\nlonger with Jammeh.<\/p>\n
