Ekiti State Governor and Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)<\/p>\n
Governors\u2019 Forum, Mr Ayodele Fayose has called for support for
\nall-inclusive efforts to rebuild the PDP, describing the party as \u201ca
\nsleeping, and not a dead lion.\u201d<\/p>\n
Governor Fayose, who emerged as Chairman of the PDP Governors\u2019 Forum
\nlast Thursday, made this call when he visited former governor of Ogun
\nState, Otunba Gbenga Daniel in his Lagos residence on Sunday night.<\/p>\n
According to a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Public
\nCommunications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor, who
\npromised to work with all PDP leaders across the country to make a
\nsuccess of his tenure, said that the party could still boast of the
\nbest and established structure across the country, which needs only
\nreactivation by putting all hands on deck.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Governor Fayose had received former Minister of Information,
\nProf Jerry Gana and former governorship candidate of the PDP in Lagos
\nState, Mr Jimi Agbaje, who visited the governor at his Lagos residence
\nto congratulate him.<\/p>\n
While describing the present challenges being faced by the PDP as \u201ca
\nphase that we can overcome most importantly that the All Progressives
\nCongress (APC) government has failed to impress Nigerians and
\nsucceeded in pauperising the nation by its cluelessness,\u201d Governor
\nFayose said; \u201cfalling is not unusual, but remaining in the falling
\nstate is admittance of perpetual defeat, which the PDP must not submit
\nitself to.\u201d<\/p>\n
He lamented that Nigeria was being led by a nepotistic and dictatorial
\nPresident, who has made the country to be more divided more than ever
\nbefore, adding that \u201cWith the unleashing of hunger and suffering on
\nNigerians, PDP stands to gain electorally ahead of 2019 if the party
\nput its house in order.\u201d<\/p>\n
The governor, who called on all serving and former governors as well
\nas other leaders of the PDP to rise to the rescue of the party by
\nproviding fearless and sincere leadership for party faithful,
\ndescribed the continuous closure of the party national secretariat as
\npart of the deliberate efforts of the APC led federal government and
\nits agents like the police and SSS to make Nigeria a one party state.<\/p>\n
Responding, former Governor Gbenga Daniel likened Fayose to the
\nbiblical Daniel, who believed in the rebuilding of the Macedonian
\nwall.<\/p>\n
Otunba Daniel, who called for support for Fayose to achieve his good
\nintentions for the PDP, described him (Fayose) as \u201cas a fearless,
\nfocused and courageous man, and a timely interventionist with a
