The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s
\nanti-corruption war is a ruse.<\/p>\n
The party was reacting to the President\u2019s clearance of the Acting Chairman
\nof the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu
\nand the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. David Babachir
\nLawal, of corruption allegations.<\/p>\n
A statement issued on Wednesday by the spokesman of the PDP, Prince Dayo
\nAdeyeye, said clearing Magu and Lawal \u201chas finally confirmed our earlier
\nassertion that the \u2018anti-corruption war\u2019 of the All Progressive Congress
\n(APC)- led administration is a ruse; a witch-hunting mechanism to harass
\nPDP members and perceived enemies of this administration.\u201d<\/p>\n
The statement said, \u201cIt is no longer news that all those who are serving
\nin the government of President Muhammadu Buhari or who are members of his
\nparty, the All Progressive Congress (APC) within the last two years of his
\nadministration have all been cleared of any wrong doing; notwithstanding
\ndocumentary and other incontrovertible evidences to the contrary.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Presidency in today\u2019s dispensation is the \u2018Judicial Clearing House\u2019
\nissuing clean bill of health to all accused corrupt officials who are
\nmembers of the APC and friends of the administration.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is quite disturbing that the President cleared his SGF of wrong doing
\ndespite the weighty evidences of his \u201cgrass-cutting abilities\u201d uncovered
\nby the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, implicating Babachir of
\ncomplicity in the award of contracts relating to the IDP camp in Borno
\nState amounting to over 200 million Naira.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is more worrisome that Mr. President made light of the DSS Report
\nwhich directly indicted the Acting Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, of
\nseveral unwholesome and corrupt practices in the line of his duties.<\/p>\n
\u201cPresident Buhari saw nothing wrong in the report but was quick to order
\nthe invasion of judges homes in a Gestapo and commando-style following the
\nsame DSS report.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat a double standard! It appears that the APC led government is
\nimplementing two constitutions in Nigeria; one for the PDP and other
\nopposition parties and their leaders; while the other is for the ruling
\nparty, the APC and friends of this administration.\u201d<\/p>\n
The PDP also alluded to the clearance given to the Chief of Staff, Lt.
\nGen. Tukur Buratai, in the Dubai property saga, found to belong to the
\nArmy Staff.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Chief of Army Staff was cleared of all accusations even with
\nconvincing evidence of owning choice properties in Dubai beyond his
\nincome; and also overwhelming evidence of misdeeds while serving as
\nDirector of Procurement in the last administration.
\n\u201cNotwithstanding, President Buhari cleared him by attributing his
\nownership of choice properties to diligent and thrifty saving of his wages
\nbut went after Supreme Court Justices for owning properties as if the
\nJudges too cannot also save from their own wages.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the same vien, \u2018Buhari\u2019s Court\u2019 also cleared the Minister of Interior,
\nGen. Abdulrahman Dambazzau for owning properties worth over 1.5 billion
\nNaira in the United States of America; and in fact rather than being
\nprosecuted, he was rewarded with the highest budget vote in the 2017
