Ekiti State governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has called on the Federal<\/p>\n
governor to review the Corp members’ monthly allowance from the
\ncurrent N19,800 to N50,000, saying the current allowance is no longer
\nfeasible to sustain Corpers with the current economic situation in the
\nCountry.<\/p>\n
The Governor who decried the\u00a0 deplorable condition of the Ekiti NYSC
\norientation camp in Ise\/Emure promised immediate release of N20
\nmillion naira for the renovation of the camp.<\/p>\n
He challenged the Federal Government to live up to responsibility by
\ncoming out to tackle headlong, the challenges confronting NYSC, noting
\nthat the Corps members’ welfare should be a priority.<\/p>\n
While addressing the Corps members at the Orientation Camp during a
\ntour of the camp to ascertain the state of facilities there, he
\npromised immediate release of a brand new car as official car to the
\nState coordinator.<\/p>\n
The governor promised constant support for the scheme and encouraged
\nthe Corps members to be determined to break the jinx of poverty by
\nbeing diligent, citing himself as evidence of hope for the poor.<\/p>\n
Fayose, who made a surprise visit at the camp kitchen where members of
\nPlatoon 9 were preparing dinner for Corps members, availed himself of
\nthe eba meal, sat down there in the kitchen and consumed it to the
\nadmiration of the Corps members.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the NYSC State Director, Mrs Eze Ukagha commended the efforts
\nof the governor towards the citing of the camp,provision of borehole
\nfacility, generating set, vehicle and other facilities during his
\nfirst term in office.<\/p>\n
She solicited the assistance of the governor towards the renovation of
\nthe camp and provision of some facilities, appreciating him for a
\nrelease of N650,000 and N250,000 for the repair of blown of roofs and
\nmedical bill of some Corps members respectively.<\/p>\n
The Coordinator promised the commitment of the 2,116 Batch ‘B’, stream
\n2 Corps Members to the development of the State, describing them as
\nvery disciplined and dedicated set of Corps members.<\/p>\n
Some of the Corps members commended the governor for his love and
\ncontribution to the camp which has become dilapidated. They described
\nthe governor as a grassroots man and promised to serve the State
