{"id":56483,"date":"2017-03-02T18:51:00","date_gmt":"2017-03-02T17:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=56483"},"modified":"2017-03-02T18:51:00","modified_gmt":"2017-03-02T17:51:00","slug":"next-time-dont-keep-waiting-obasanjo-warns-police-storms-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/next-time-dont-keep-waiting-obasanjo-warns-police-storms-event\/","title":{"rendered":"Next Time Don&#8217;t Keep Me Waiting, Obasanjo Warns Police, Storms Out of Event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former President Olusegun Obasanjo <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_677768443\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Thursday<\/span><\/span> afternoon took a swipe at the<br \/>\nNigeria Police for \u201ckeeping him waiting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Obasanjo, who was the special guest of honour at the Assistant<br \/>\nInspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone II maiden biannual<br \/>\nspecial training and capacity building programme, advised the police<br \/>\nauthorities to be ready when next they invite him.<\/p>\n<p>The ex- President was at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, venue<br \/>\nof the training for more than 90 minutes before the event started.<\/p>\n<p>The event billed for <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_677768444\"><span class=\"aQJ\">10:30 a.m.<\/span><\/span> didn\u2019t begin until <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_677768445\"><span class=\"aQJ\">11:52 a.m.<\/span><\/span>, with<br \/>\nObasanjo informing the gathering he had to return to Ogun State for an<br \/>\nevent he left midway to attend the police training.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNext time, before you call me, please be ready,\u201d Obasanjo<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the initiative, Obasanjo said there was no substitute for<br \/>\ntraining, urging security operatives to be in tune with practices of their<br \/>\ncontemporaries in other parts of the globe.<\/p>\n<p>He said all human institutions need constant appraisal, regeneration,<br \/>\nintrospection and training.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cPolice must be aware and in touch with new developments in other<br \/>\nparts of the globe. I can see my former IGP Musiliu Smith.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSmith is completely out of date to give lecture on police duty. He has<br \/>\nexperience to share with you, but not on modern way of doing things.
