Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party
\n(PDP) Governors’ Forum, Mr Ayodele Fayose has reiterated his support
\nfor the decision of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi led Caretaker Committee
\nto appeal the Court of Appeal, Port-Harcourt judgement on the
\nleadership of the party, saying; \u201cThere cannot be any meaningful
\nreconciliation with an impossible character like Senator Ali Modu
\nSheriff who is obviously working for political interests different
\nfrom that of the PDP.\u201d<\/p>\n
The governor said he was aware that well over $1 million had been
\nprovided by the APC to fund the convention being planned by the
\nSheriff group while adequate security will also be provided by the
\nsecurity agencies that are now more like part of the APC. This is
\nbeing done so as to sustain the party\u2019s plot to turn Nigeria to a one
\nparty State.<\/p>\n
Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and
\nNew Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor, who said he was reacting in
\nhis capacity as the governor of Ekiti State to the submission of
\nreport of the Governor Seriake Dickson-led reconciliation committee to
\nSenator Ali Modu Sheriff, said; “all constitutionally recognised
\norgans of the party, including staff of the national secretariat\u00a0 are
\nwith the Markafi led Caretaker Committee and since political party is
\nabout membership, Sheriff will continue to carry with himself the
\nburden of lack of legitimacy.”<\/p>\n
The governor, who said he had nothing against Governor Dickson, added
\nthat; \u201cI respect Governor Dickson, he is my brother and he is entitled
\nto his own personal opinion just as I am entitled to mine. But I must
\nstate it categorically that no genuine lover of the PDP will take part
\nin a convention sponsored by the APC.\u201d<\/p>\n
Governor Fayose, who said implementation of the Dickson Committee
\nreport was beyond Sheriff, noted that; \u201cassuming but not conceding
\nthat the report is acceptable, can Sheriff even implement it? Where
\nwill he find seven serving governors, seven former ministers, etc?\u201d<\/p>\n
Governor Fayose reiterated that no meaningful reconciliation can be
\ndone with Senator Sheriff, adding that; “With APC calling for support
\nfor Sheriff, it should be clear to all genuine lovers of the PDP who
\nare behind the crisis in the party.”<\/p>\n
He said; \u201cI am speaking for myself and the entire people of Ekiti
\nState that I represent; we won\u2019t be part of any PDP convention
\nsponsored by the APC and I must state categorically that Sheriff is
\nbeing sponsored 100 percent by the APC.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe therefore remain undaunted in our support for the Markafi
\ncommittee and its decision to approach the Supreme Court to challenge
