The National Working Committee (NWC) of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
\nsaid it had accepted the recommendations in the report of the party\u2019s
\nReconciliation Committee.<\/p>\n

The National Chairman of the party, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, said this at a
\nnews conference on Thursday<\/span><\/span> in Abuja.<\/p>\n

Sheriff said the NWC believed that the recommendations of the committee
\nheaded Bayelsa governor, Mr Sariake Dickson, met the requirements for the
\nconduct of national convention and reconciliation procedures.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe accept the recommendations in totality and we will start working on
\nthe implementation,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

He added that the recommendation was, however, subject to further approval
\nof the party\u2019s National Executive Committee (NEC).<\/p>\n

Dickson had on Tuesday<\/span><\/span>, submitted the report of the recommendation to
\nSheriff at PDP National Secretariat, Abuja.<\/p>\n

Sheriff said that he would commence consultation with all organs of the
\nparty in line with the recommendation.<\/p>\n

He said that he would contact the organs to get their membership lists so
\nas to draw up the nomination for the national convention planning
\ncommittee members as proposed by the committee.<\/p>\n

He also said that the commission would soon set up state executive for
\nAnambra chapter of the party as part of preparations for the November,
\n2017 governorship election in the state.<\/p>\n

The chairman also disclosed that as part of efforts to reunite the party
\nmembers, he had contacted all the states governors of the party, including
\nMr Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti and Chairman of PDP Governors Forum.<\/p>\n

He said that he had contacted all the governors except Nyesome Wike of
\nRivers, who was said to be out of the country.<\/p>\n

Sheriff, however, cautioned some party members, especially Fayose, to
\ndesist from making derogatory remarks about him.<\/p>\n

He said that Fayose had already made it a point of duty to insult his
\npersonality on daily basis, but said \u201cI want to tell him that enough is
\nenough.<\/p>\n

\u201cBelonging to political party is by choice. Yes, you may have a right, but
\nyour right should not trample on another person\u2019s right; political party
\nis a voluntary association.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you are a leader of a political party, we have to allow people to have
\ntheir choice of leadership.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

Sheriff, who said he had no personal rift with Fayose or any party member,
\nsaid that all he was doing was to make PDP attractive to everybody.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to reposition the party so that it can win elections,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On indefinite medical vacation by President Muhammadu Buhari abroad,
\nSheriff said the president\u2019s absence did not affect governance as he had
\ntransferred power to Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.<\/p>\n

He advised Nigerians not to politicise the issue of health, saying \u201cevery
\nliving human being will get sick.\u2019\u2019 (NAN)<\/p>\n

OSINBAJO CONDEMNS COMMUNAL VIOLENCE IN IFE, ORDERS IGP TO INVESTIGATE CRISIS<\/p>\n

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has ordered the Inspector-General of
\nPolice Ibrahim Idris to promptly investigate and ensure the prosecution of
\nthe\u00a0 culprits in the recent communal clashes in Ile-Ife, where several
\nlives were reportedly lost.<\/p>\n

Prof. Osinbajo condoles with those who lost their loved ones in the
\nviolence and commiserates with the people, and government of the State of
\nOsun over the unfortunate incident. He prays that the Almighty God will
\ncomfort those who have become mourners in such tragic circumstances.<\/p>\n

The Acting President also calls on all the different groups of people in
\nIle-Ife to live in harmony, remain calm and keep the peace while police
\ninvestigation is in progress, assuring that perpetrators of the acts of
\nviolence will be identified and brought to book according to law.<\/p>\n

While strongly condemning the killings and other acts of violence that
\nhave been perpetuated in the town, Acting President Osinbajo emphasises
\nthat resorting to acts of violence as a form of redress over grievances by
\nany group of people anywhere in the country will not be tolerated or
\ncondoned by the Federal Government. Such unlawful pursuit of redress and
\ndespicable expression of grievances shall be firmly punished in line with
