Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has directed all civil servants working in
\nSokoto state to be computer literate to enhance their chance of
\nprogression in the civil service.<\/p>\n
He spoke following the granting of approval to the Head of Service for the
\ntraining of 23,361 state workers on computer appreciation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are embarking on this important project in order to increase
\nefficiency in the civil service of Sokoto State. In this age and time, no
\nprogress can be made without knowledge of computer and by extension
\ninformation and communication technology (ICT).<\/p>\n
\u201cThe milestones achieved in the sector in the state, as can be seen from
\naward of best state in ICT from the Nigerian Information and Technology
\nDevelopment Agency (NITDA), should be sustained and built upon.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have involved the leadership of labour unions for easy mobilization.
\nWe hope the workers, who are direct beneficiaries, will show enough
\ndedication and commitment to the training,\u201d Governor Tambuwal was quoted
\nas saying through a statement issued by his spokesman, Malam Imam Imam, in
\nSokoto on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The special computer training will be conducted in six centers situated at
\nthree State-owned Tertiary Institutions and the Sokoto Education
\nDevelopment Trust Fund.<\/p>\n
The institutions are: Sokoto State University, Umaru Ali Shinkafi
\nPoluyechnic and Shehu Shagari College of Education (SSCOE), Sokoto.<\/p>\n
The statement said the Central Coordination for the training will be
\nlocated at Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic under the supervision of the
\nRector of the institution, Prof. Aminu A. Ibrahim to be assisted by 5
\nothers.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlready, the Head of Service of Sokoto State, Alhaji Buhari Bello Kware,
\nhas met with the coordinating team and the leadership of the organized
\nLabour in the State so that all stake holders are carried along in
\nensuring that the training is a success.<\/p>\n
\u201cConsequently, all civil servants are hereby enjoined to avail themselves
\nwith this golden opportunity provided by the Government,\u201d the statement
\nadded.<\/p>\n
