Rivers State Governor has given the Federal Government\u00a0 an ultimatum of 7
\ndays to return\u00a0 the $43million dollars\u00a0 found in a luxury apartment in
\nIkoyi\u00a0 to the Rivers State Government , failure which the State Government
\nwill take legal measures to ensure\u00a0 that it gets back her stolen
\nresources<\/p>\n
Governor Wike\u00a0 also declared that the $43million dollars found in the
\nluxury apartment\u00a0 in Ikoyi belongs\u00a0 to\u00a0 the\u00a0 Rivers State Government.<\/p>\n
Governor Wike said that investigations by the Rivers State Government
\nrevealed\u00a0 that the money\u00a0 was proceed from the sale of gas turbines by the
\nimmediate past Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.<\/p>\n
Addressing journalists at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Friday
\nnight, Governor Wike said: “The money in question\u00a0 belongs to the former
\nRivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.\u00a0 We want to confirm that
\nthe houses in Ikoyi also belong to Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.<\/p>\n
“If you recollect in 2015, we said that gas turbines built by Former
\nGovernor Peter Odili were sold to Sahara Energy, business partners of
\nChibuike Rotimi Amaechi at $319million.<\/p>\n
“That money was used to sponsor the All Progressives Congress for the 2015
\ngeneral elections.\u00a0 From the date of sale of the gas turbines to\u00a0 May 29,
\n2015, the money depleted from $319million to $204,000 . What was stashed
\nat the Ikoyi residence\u00a0 was part of that fund”.<\/p>\n
He said : “We have\u00a0 facts to prove that the said money belongs to the
\nRivers State Government.\u00a0 The Federal Government must return our money”.<\/p>\n
Governor Wike\u00a0 said all the stories\u00a0 being peddled about the money
\nbelonging to the National Intelligence Agency are false and mere face
\nsaving measures by the embattled APC Federal Government.<\/p>\n
He said: “As I speak to\u00a0 you, the Federal Government\u00a0 is so embarrassed
\nthat this has happened.\u00a0 All the stories\u00a0 that the money belongs to the
\nNIA are fake”.<\/p>\n
Governor Wike\u00a0 challenged the Federal Government to\u00a0 set up\u00a0 a panel of
\nInquiry\u00a0 , which will sit publicly to investigate\u00a0 the money, if it
\ndoubted the claim of the Rivers State Government.<\/p>\n
He stated that the Rivers State Government\u00a0 needs the money to complete an
\narray\u00a0 of projects, insisting that on no account would this criminal
\nactivity be swept\u00a0 under the carpet.<\/p>\n
The governor said as long as the Federal Government continues to disturb
\nthe progress of Rivers State, so long will God throw the Federal
\nGovernment\u00a0 into confusion.<\/p>\n
“We are giving them seven\u00a0 days to return\u00a0 our money. Otherwise, we would
\ntake legal action\u00a0 to recover our money. $43million\u00a0 will help us complete
