{"id":57908,"date":"2017-05-30T13:32:02","date_gmt":"2017-05-30T12:32:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=57908"},"modified":"2017-05-30T13:32:02","modified_gmt":"2017-05-30T12:32:02","slug":"biafra-south-east-markets-streets-deserted-massob-ipobs-sit-home-order","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/biafra-south-east-markets-streets-deserted-massob-ipobs-sit-home-order\/","title":{"rendered":"BIAFRA: South East Markets, Streets Deserted Over MASSOB, IPOB\u2019s Sit-At-Home Order"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Major markets and streets in several states in the South East were<br \/>\ndeserted <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1739816637\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Tuesday<\/span><\/span> as residents observed in sit-at-home order by the<br \/>\nIndigenous People of Biafra and MASSOB to mark Biafra Day.<\/p>\n<p>In Enugu, residents, especially traders complied with the order, despite<br \/>\nwarnings by the Nigerian Police Force that the order was illegal and an<br \/>\ninfringement on fundamental rights.<\/p>\n<p>Our correspondents observed that shops were locked and markets were closed<br \/>\nwith streets deserted. Security operatives were, however, seen patrolling<br \/>\nthe streets.<\/p>\n<p>In Abia, there was partial compliance with the order as some banks offered<br \/>\nservices, with others closed. In some parts of the states, cautious<br \/>\nresidents could be seen gathered in small groups in street corners.<\/p>\n<p>Today was set aside by the pro-Biafra groups to mourn Igbos who were<br \/>\nkilled in the civil war, 50 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>In Owerri, the Imo State capital, schools, and markets, including the<br \/>\nOwerri Main Market, were closed.
