Barely two weeks after petitioning the Inspector General of Police,
\nIbrahim Idris, over alleged threat to his life and property; a
\ngovernorship contender in Abia State, Sir Friday Nwosu, who filed a tax
\nsuit against Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, has raised alarm that the Chief of
\nStaff to the Governor, Chief Chijioke Nwakodo; immediate past
\nCommissioners for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Works,
\nChief Charles Ogbonnaya and Mr. Eziuche Ubani, respectively, are plotting
\nto set ablaze his residence at Mgboko Umuoria, Obingwa Local Government
\nArea.<\/p>\n
He has now appealed to the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to
\nexpedite action to protect him and his property from the alleged plot by
\nOgbonnaya and others.<\/p>\n
Nwosu said information available to him revealed that the three aides of
\nthe governor have allegedly perfected plans to hire hoodlums in military
\nor police uniforms to burn Governor Okezie Ikpeazu\u2019s residence at
\nUmuobiakwa town, also in Obingwa local government area, and blame it on
\nNwosu. According to him, when the hoodlums are arrested, they will be made
\nto confess that I, Nwosu sent them to raze the governor\u2019s residence.<\/p>\n
The PDP chieftain alleged that he had met Charles Ogbonnaya, who is known
\nin Abia political circles as, \u2018Evulaogu Ibeku\u2019, at the Supreme Court on
\nMarch 29, 2017, where instead of returning his greeting, the former
\nCommissioner threatened that he will cook up a criminal case and rope him
\nin to frustrate his case against the governor. Nwosu stated that he took
\nthe threat as a joke until some senior Abia government officials warned
\nhim of the plot by the former Commissioner<\/p>\n
\u201cThe plot is to hire hoodlums in military and police uniforms to burn my
\nhouse and that of Governor Ikpeazu, and when the hoodlums are caught, they
\nwill confess that I sent them. Then, the governor will throw his weight
\ninto the matter to set them free and possibly ruin me and frustrate my
\ncase in court. I have never had problems with Chijioke Nwakodo, Eziuche
\nUbani or Charles Ogbonnaya, my offence is that I took Governor Ikpeazu to
\ncourt over the submission of false information to INEC. Charles Ogbonnya
\nhas told some senior Abia government officials that he will rope Nwosu
\ninto a criminal case and ruin him.<\/p>\n
“Why will Charles Ogbonnaya contrive to accuse me of a crime I never
\ncommitted and can never think about? I have always respected him, paid him
\nhomage during the campaigns and supported him for his son\u2019s wedding. I had
\ncontacted him on 1st May, 2017, through text message asking why he is
\nplotting to rope me into a criminal case, but he didn\u2019t respond. Why
\nshould I be killed and my property set ablaze? I would not have taken the
\nthreat serious if some Abia government officials had not warned me.\u201d Nwosu
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
The PDP chieftain also lamented that he had on May 1, 2017, complained to
\nGovernor Ikpeazu over the threat by Charles Ogbonnaya to rope him into a
\ncriminal case to ruin him, but got no response from the governor till
\ndate.<\/p>\n
\u201cI told Governor Ikpeazu that as the governor of Abia State today, he has
\na sacred duty to protect my life and those of others even though I filed a
\ncase in court against him. Charles Ogbonnaya said he will rope me into a
\nserious criminal matter and has got the go ahead to do so. Please use your
\ngood offices to stop Charles Ogbonnaya and his group from executing their
