Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has said that the hurried trip
\nembarked to London by First Lady, Mrs Aisha Buhari was a confirmation
\nthat President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s health had deteriorated, saying that
\n\u201cIt is six days since I addressed the press and today, I still insist
\nthat the President is indeed on life-support.\u201d<\/p>\n
Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications and New
\nMedia, Lere Olayinka said the governor, who addressed some journalists
\nin Lagos on Monday, insisted that \u201cThe worsen condition of the
\nPresident\u2019s health necessitated the hurried trip of our First Lady,
\nHer Excellency Aisha Buhari to London and it is hoped that she will
\nhave the courage to tell Nigerians the truth this time around.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said \u201cno one is interested in President Buhari\u2019s death. Rather, we
\nare interested in freeing Nigeria from the hands of these few
\nindividuals who are presently holding the country to ransom.\u201d<\/p>\n
Governor Fayose, who maintained that President Buhari must resign,
\nsaid; \u201cToday is the 184th day of 2017. Out of these 184 days, our
\nPresident has spent 107 days abroad taking care of his health.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow does a nation move forward when its President is spending the
\nbetter part of his time abroad for Medicare?<\/p>\n
\u201cFor how long can Nigeria and its people wait for a President who is
\nincapacitated? For how long can our people continue to suffer just
\nbecause some people want to hold on to power at all cost?<\/p>\n
\u201cThat was the reason I raised the issue of President Buhari\u2019s age,
\nhealth and mental capacity in 2015 and warned against electing
\nPresident him.\u201d<\/p>\n
Speaking further, the governor said; \u201cNigerians should be reminded
\nthat in 2010 when there was uncertainty over the health of the then
\nPresident Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, President Buhari called on the National
\nAssembly to impeach Yar’Adua.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed who was the
\nSpokesperson of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) also said
\nNigerians should be briefed daily on Yar\u2019Adua\u2019s health status. Lai
\nMohammed said then that \u2018the health of the President, as a public
\nfigure cannot be of interest only to his family and friends. Nigerians
\nhave a right to know.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cJust the same way President Buhari asked the National Assembly to
\nremove Yar\u2019Adua in 2010; I am also insisting that the President must
\nbe made to bow out of office so that Nigeria and its people can be
\nsaved from this state of uncertainty.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo doubt, it has been argued that since Vice President Yemi Osinbajo
\nis already functioning as Acting President, President Buhari can be
\nbedridden for as long as his illness last, but the reality that
\nNigerians must accept is that the Acting President cannot fully
\nexercise the powers of the President.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, pending his resignation, I am also aligning myself with what
\nLai Mohammed said in 2010 on Yar\u2019Adua\u2019s health by demanding that he
\n(Lai Mohammed) should begin a daily briefing of Nigerians based on
\nauthentic details provided by the President’s doctors.<\/p>\n
\u201cNigeria belongs to all of and its collective interest remains greater
\nthan those of any individual or group and together, we must save
